Op-Ed: Financial Transaction Tax Talk Just Won't Die:

http://www.tradersmagazine.com/news/financial-transaction-tax-preyma-109580-1.html?pg=1

"Suffice it to say, consensus will never be reached about FTT adoption and what will transpire is the introduction of it in various forms in different countries."

In the U.S., Democratic senator Tom Harkin and Democratic representative Peter DeFazio have introduced a financial transaction tax bill in their respective chambers. These bills will not pass because the Republicans have been opposed to it in any form right from the start and even president Barack Obama came out against it at the G20 summit. Although it will fail, firms will have to spend time lobbying their representatives.

As Canada is strongly opposed to any form of a FTT, it is open to take any migrating business. With the same time zone, a sound financial system, currency at almost par, over 200 currently inter-listed stocks and technology that already has most U.S. firms connected to its markets, Canada is waiting in the wings to offer a cheaper alternative. Likewise, China has been trying to increase its international relevancy for years...and is opposed to a FTT.

"You tell us: Are the Hoods that dishonest? Or are they just on drugs?"

tortoise...Maybe you want to take out the drugs reference? A FTT might also hurt junkies so we want some of them on our side!

Suggested rewording:-
"You tell us: Are the Robbin' Hoodies intentionally misleading the public or are they just deluded?"

lol. ok, fair enough

I've launched the news page at

http://financialtransactiontaxes.com/Financial-Transaction-Tax-FTT-News.html

This will be updated throughout the day with significant FTT-related news items. Everything will be archived and searchable via the on-page search box so, over time, as the inventory builds, this should become a pretty decent resource.

benw, check out my rewording of that passage on the home page--use of "inhaling" as a winking reference to the "let's talk about tax' text bloc above. Not as on-the-nose-offensive but still with some bite, I hope? Lemme know.

Also, everyone, those of you on Facebook, will you please consider posting the Cascade Effect page on your profile? I've gotten some satisfying "OMG" responses from "regular folks" on this, so it seems like a good conversation starter.

Again, the link to the Cascade Effect page is:
