"Furthermore, we need to continue to work on other initiatives, such as the stability fee, which aim at ensuring that the financial sector shall in future bear its share of burden in case of a crisis, also exploring the possibility of a global transaction tax. We also agreed to speed up work on crisis management and resolution."

These idiots just arn't giving up on the FTT issue. They just keep pressing it every chance they get:(

It's not storms or volcanos that pose the greatest hazards to makind. It's politicians.

Quote from TraDaToR:

English speaking people, would you please "add some comments" on this wikipedia page that doesn't even have one single argument against it:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Financial_transaction_tax

The goal is that when the guy comes back to his page, he would give up arguing...
The tale goes that Robin Hood stole from the rich to give to the poor.
But didn't Robin Hood really steal from the government because the king was taxing its people too high?

The Finance Ministers' audacity has no bounds. Does anyone really think that non-failed nations unaffected by governmental profligacy and bad management will follow orders of a failing European Union?

Fiscally stable governments will not reorganise their internal affairs just to prop up wailing Europe. Europe is doing a very good job of wrecking itself.

By the looks of their politics and Brown's offer to remain indefinitely as PM regardless of his unpopularity, Britain isn't very far behind Europe.

Not one country has yet signed the simple Copenhagen accord!

UK/Europe calls for 'global' measures designed to serve their own self-interest are laughable.

There's a whole big other world out here. We're not signing on to Europe's "global" demands, or anyone else's.

looks like Brown wants to step down

Earlier, Mr Brown announced that Labour would be beginning formal talks with the Liberal Democrats about the possibility of forming a coalition.

However, he said that, regardless of the outcome, he would be stepping down as Labour leader by September.

Yeah the GB election sounds like a mess. Some are calling for Brown to step aside gracefully but it sounds like he wants to cut a deal to stay in power. Their political system sounds really screwed up over there (LOL). Hopefully Brown does indeed step down and takes his Tobin Tax idea with him:)

Gordon Brown resigns as U.K. Premier, paving way for Cameron to form government.
