1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Quote from Stok:

And Geithner is right! If you want to tax wall street....you put a levy tax on the banks, not a transaction tax!! He has a smart and sane mind and I applaud him. It's the CRAZY LIBERAL NUT JOBS who want to spin this tax they way defagio is!! Peliso is a plastic whore and needs to be taken down!! I hate her! Telling the Country that the CIA lied to her....she is the biggest threat to the USA...not Obama...for some reason he is more GOP than Dem.

Again, it's the liberal agenda to shut all capitalism down. They hate it and despise it and will tank this Country into hell to achieve their goals.

All nice points, except this:

"He has a smart and sane mind and I applaud him."

Seriously? He makes one decent stand and all the sudden he's the voice of reason? Let's not get crazy now.

Yeah but Politco besides today is usally been very good with this stuff. Anyways I dont trust Pelosi and since she is the legislator its not very comforting anymore, I had my brief few mintues of comfort after Geithner, but now reading a lot of the articles today, she will not let this die. We shall see what kind of support it gets in the senate next week, and who supports it is important as well.

Politico are a bunch of ex-WaPo liberal hacks and muckrakers wearing a nice suit. Not to be trusted on anything. Even the White House doesn't trust them, according to some reports.

Disappointing to see Marketplace run a trans tax story without any sort of counter argument -- lots of people listen to this show, too:

http://marketplace.publicradio.org/display/web/2009/12/04/pm-stock-tax/

Bergin says the transaction tax would have to be closer to 1 percent to really put a dent in speculation. But, he says, taxes have a habit of rising once they're approved by Congress, so the tax could eventually pack a punch.

Disappointing but totally predictable. This is NPR. What did you expect?

Quote from Stok:

Pelosi is the one that is going to ruin this Country....Obama is surprising more GOP than anything (wall street bailouts, finally committing to more troops, etc)....It's pelosi, reid, defagio, et al.. that is gonna flush this Country down the drain.

Again, this Country was not founded on liberalism nor socialism and it has to be STOPPED!! If they don't like it, move to f*ucking Europe!!

What did everyone drink tonight? First Geithner is a voice of reason, now Obama is the man? I don't want to get too off topic, but Obama's Afghan policy is not welcomed by anyone who seriously wants to win the war, i.e., telegraphing time tables. And wall street bailouts weren't welcome by conservatives, I don't know about the GOP, for which I don't care a wit about.

Enough said, I will trust anyone the white house doesnt trust :)

And the treasury secretary has more responsabilities then I thought he is also 5th in the line of presidential sucession.

"The Secretary of the Treasury is the principal economic advisor to the President and plays a critical role in policy-making by bringing an economic and government financial policy perspective to issues facing the government. The Secretary is responsible for formulating and recommending domestic and international financial, economic, and tax policy, participating in the formulation of broad fiscal policies that have general significance for the economy, and managing the public debt

Keep in mind that Pelosi is #2 in the line of secession, behind Joe Biden. LOL.

This says it all about American politics that Biden can earn the #2 spot, and Pelosi can be the #3 heavy weight in this country................ if it wasn't true, you couldn't believe this crap.

Not getting crazy here...what I am saying is that he advised Obama on TARP...which will be a success....already has...gubernment has made $11B off TARP already and more to come. The TARP did save a collapse IMO (Bush started the TARP btw).

The point is, he is the "saner" mind in this 3 tiered monopoly (or 3 headed monster) we have to deal with right now. The dem's and libby's control it all...until Nov 2010.

Actually we have to hope theyu have their hands busy with C&T, Healthcare, etc until Feb, at which point Congres starts their campaigning and they won't be pushing anything seriously, not matter how hard Obama may prod them. Now to Feb is the danger area.
