1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Quote from MrPowerBallad:

Hey Rsikit -- is that Monday as in today or Monday as in a previous Monday? Thanks

No no, that was a point I was making from last month, but Rangel did come out last week or so to say while everything under the sun is on the table in the house. No one has discussed it with him in his committee as where the bill is reffered and must come out of becuase it is the tax writing committee

You don't want to worry about this tax? Here's what you do. You go to the polls in 2010 and you forget how much you hate Bush, you forget how much you love your democrat rep/senator, and you vote GOP across the board, even if you must hold your nose.

The dems are nothing more than socialist who have now spent the country into oblivion, and will continue to do so until they are completely removed from power. They WILL tax everything they can get their greedy, power hungry hands on. There is nothing safe from taxation with this crew in power. What will it take for people to understand that?

.............................................................

Real unemployment with the Obama nut cases will be going to 35% or higher.....

And why on earth would one want to trade in the US, or an exchange want to have a US domicile when one has to pay 50 cents in taxes of every 100 cents earned versus 10 cents in taxes of every 100 cents earned with regards to a homogeneous securities product ?

An exchange is just software and can be located in any country.

The most likely case is for listings to move their domicile and not be subject to the US nonsense.

This goes for traders and exchanges....

The Obamanites seem to want to create a giant Haiti....and they just might pull it off....

Every move made to date takes away from efficiencies and business in general....

Traders and exchange listings are going to leave the US in droves with or without the Tobin tax....

Rinse, wash and repeat of the article and the first piece earlier in the day. He did mention that the US doesn't support it, that it must be international to work and that there is little support in congress for it. More and more I see and read, the more that I see that this has almost zero chance of occurring in the US.
