Merkel should just do a Bank levy to hit the banks.

Stamp duty will hit workers via pensions.

But the idea behind FTT is that the socialists want to go after hedge funds too.

I doubt the voters care much about hedge funds, most probably dont even know what they are.

I bet if you asked the French and German people which they prefer a Bank Levy targeted at the banks only or an FTT that everyone would pay. Not many people would prefer the FTT.
