Merkel is a complete idiot. This quote is in direct contrast to the EC's own findings on an EU only ftt:

"She said every step would have to be weighed carefully and only undertaken if it yielded more benefits than disadvantages."

I believe the EC indicated that the ftt would do much more harm than good (economically speaking). These idiot politicians just don't get it. I really hope the US and the G20 as a whole tells Ms. Merkel where she can put her damn ftt tax. It's time for this nonsense to stop. If Europe is so hellbent on implenting a ftt then go ahead and to it. They certainly don't need the US or G20's blessing.

Yep.

Remember what nations do when they are facing the end of times. They tax and destroy themselves. The FTT is grabbing at straws for a last gasp of air. Europe is doomed. Liberal socialism is doomed and always leads to what is on stage right now in Europe. Sad, but true.

Remember the Nurses Union protesting for a transaction tax? well, if you do, this is kinda amusing from the dismantling of Occupy Denver.

Osborne's office would be aware the calls were an orchestrated campaign crescendo probably in the throes of the death rattles. The callers would be people who would never vote conservative, so he has nothing to lose by not acceding to pressures from misguided and therefore gullible protesters.

Further, reading between the lines there's a subtle impression that Merkel is merely being tolerated by the big boys. Her megaphone diplomacy is surely a severe irritant to foreign ministers of various cultural backgrounds. Little Sarkozy will be similarly assessed at his last ditch stage show Cannes.
These foreign ministers are furious with European politicians. Canada, US and Australia today poured cold water on some of their directives.
For Merkel to herd G20 into her delusion would be akin to successfully blending oil and water together.

There should be a statement and press conferences within the next 12 hours.
