1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

If some real big shit that will affect you happens you won't have to dig through obscure articles to find out about it. You will know.
You mean like all those hidden gems in the health bill that nobody knew about? Go back to sleep.

I am confident that I could win a CNBC or Fox segment-debate on the financial-transaction tax with any economist, media person, or politician.

Please suggest me to them to win this fight for us.

While watching, I felt I could have responded with a few key debating points that were not made. I don't think we won the debates today, but the other side did not win either. We need to win!

Ask CNBC and Fox to read my blog and see my recent video segments for MoneyShow.com in Vegas, on our Home page upper left. I've done TV before and feel comfortable in that forum.

I can suggest myself, but it's stronger coming from you all. Larry Kudlow and are live close by each other in CT too.

I will do that, and we all should. You might also try emailing Larry or stopping by and asking him for a segment on his show (as a start).

PLEASE BE CAREFUL.

Our goal with this tax is to bring the volume of it down to zero.

Creating new segments on the tax is counterproductive to our goal.

Commenting or debating existing segments is one thing, fanning the flames is another.

Wow. I just stumbled upon this thread!!! Almost 600 pages in a couple months!?!?!

Why are you guys getting your heart rate up over this!?!?

There is a 0% chance of this happening!!

It's actually the 2nd thread I've created on the transaction tax. The first one, started in October 2008, had over 100 pages in it.

The chance of the tax being enacted is not 0%. When it is, this thread will disappear.

Scott, Tom Green, and anyone else with a audience:

You might want ask how they plan to generate 150 billion per year now that they plan to exempt mutual funds, retirement accounts, small investors, and drive off "useless" speculators. The numbers do not add up.

+1

yeah the 150 assumes teh volumes will be the same, take out mutual funds/pensions this tax would generate a small fraction of that, like 1-10 billion since most daytraders wouldn't trade anymore, so your generating 10 bil income while your taxable rev is down significantly
