1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Just wondering if anyone has contacted Mr Lynch's office regarding his pushing of the tax? I am going to do so and will let you know what (if any) response I get. Maybe we can educate him a little:)

Mr. Lynch should absolutely be contacted. Anyone done it yet?

Guru,

I went to the house ways and means committee website this weekend. I looked at the schedule of last week. The meeting that took place that the wall street journal was talking about was not with the ways and means committe main and most powerful members it was with a subcommitee called Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support. So the real leadership was not there, just the subcommittee was also holding a hearing. You can look at the witness list and you can read the transcripts. The one guy talking about a tax, and then there was someone from Georgia state legislature testifyin the the Georgia model of lowering taxes bring in more revenue. So the meeting was about all things not just focused on the tax, this guy , the left leaning economist was the only one who brought it up. It was just a mix of witnesses testifying about jobs actually and what they think can help. Just and fyi :) Hope you had a good weekend. Will let you know if I hear from Scott Talbot.

It makes me wonder why this douche bag WSJ reporter was making such an issue of that with his article. It makes me wonder if he's one of the liberals that also supports the tax, and thought he would ratchet up support for it by writing the article about the Dems. weighing a transaction tax???????

Yeah thats a very good point. The only thing that might indicate something else is this quote: "One Democratic aide said the idea is under consideration among House leadership, though the discussions are preliminary."

That makes it sound like it's at least getting looked at by the house leadership although that could be incorrect...

Keep up the good work,

Ways & Means says not looking at transaction tax now.

CNBC is about to keep the visibility of the idea going with ANOTHER segment on it coming up soon.

Refrain from writing them. They said during the last segment on it that they were doing it again because of all the feedback they received. Let's not give them more ammo to do yet another story after this one.

That actually wasnt as bad as it was the last few times, they didnt mention what the tax number was which is good. I wouldnt mind a sec type tax on futures or currencies since it is small. That guy was open to a price for the tax. But either way atleast we didnt have the cheerleader Erin Burrnet whore on so thats good, and where it matters as in the House ways and means committee they are not considering it, they are the tax writing segment of the government, from Trade the news but I dont have a subscription this is only off the front page:

Today 11:11am EST/03:11pm GMT
House and Ways Means Committee Spokesperson: Financial transactions tax not being considered by committee ***Note: On 10/09 WSJ reported that House Democrats were still considering tax of financial more...
