You say that when the Government taxes companies then through sweetheart deals reduces the amount of tax money the corporation pay...you call that a gift...giving their money back to them.
On the the hand, When the Government redistributes money it is from one taxpayer and goes mostly to a non-tax payer

The mechanism for keeping the corporate greed has been dismantled slowly by the corporations influencing the public through advertising and marketing, lying, and most importantly their undue influence on politicians.
In a more balance time in America, we had government regulations, proper taxation, strong labor unions, and politicians who had not completely sold their souls to the corporations. This balance lead to a strong middle class, something not every seen before in the history of the world. Working men were able to thrive, where in the past they would have been slaves, or indentured servants, etc.
Power corrupts, and unbridled capitalism corrupts the capitalists...

This thread is a case study in the lunacy that has captured both political parties. A post was made about 35% of all corporate profits as a direct result of government subsidy. Why would anyone dispute that? We know that financial services or the F.I.R.E. economy makes up the bulk of all earnings in this country and we know that they would no longer be functioning without the suspension of accounting practices along with generous bailouts and years of ZIRP.
On the other hand, we also have witnessed extended unemployment benefits, 40+ million living off of food stamps, Section-8 housing, along with all of the public sector largesse.
Hence, they are both sides of the same coin and do not represent the interests of many, many individuals who gain little to nothing from these subsidies. In most instances, they simply increase the cost of living and lower the standard of living.

The Government is what gives power to the corporations. They do this by regulating them, forcing them to pay a minimum wage, giving them deductions for charity, TIFF;s, tax reliefs, no bid contracts...etc.
This all hinders the only true check and balance, competition. Remove the minimum wage, government sweet deals, mandatory health care..etc Give new business a fair chance to squeeze into the market place with better products , better culture, better good for society. All things, if done on their own, will endear themselves to a more satisfied customer thus raising the bar for the next company to come along.

Get rid of any Government influence and "businessmen" will not run for political office. The Government games the system, protecting the strong and restricting the competition.
Capitalism is only about making a profit. You make profit by HIRING employees who choose to work for your firm. Profit comes from making a better offer to the consumer then the next guy.
Tax policy is a major influence on the flow of corporate monies. Take taxes out of the corporate world and watch money flow easier. Corporations have billions of profits sitting overseas but why bring that money back to the US and have to give 30% to a corrupt government.
