CIS Market Data has left the building?

CIS does tick data, CSI only does end of day. Anyway I got a paypal refund, which is satisfactory, but of course annoying, given I have successfully ordered stuff in the past from CIS. But perhaps it is a warning to others, CIS will take your payment but will not ship the data nor...

CIS Market Data has left the building?

Hi Anybody know what happened to tick data provider CIS? Their website is http://www.bayou.com/~smcg/cdata.htm I ordered the data CD a month ago, sent several emails and not heard anything at all from them. Also their "weekly update" doesnt seem to have been added to since...

    Portfolio Insurance for Simpletons?

Thanks for all your replies / ideas. Obviously a more complex subject than I had bargained for! I was hoping just to buy a simple put option once or twice a year that would be, say, up 20% if my portfolio was down 20% (or thereabouts). The analogy to an insurance policy seems not quite...

    Portfolio Insurance for Simpletons?

Hi Optioncoach, Thanks for your reply, My portfolio is systematic and trades stocks across the entire market. It seems to have the large upsides of the small cap arena. That is why I thought Russell 2000 initially. However it also seems to have reasonably minimal downturns and has times...

    Portfolio Insurance for Simpletons?

Hi, I know that all of you on this thread are absolute genuises, so I wondered if you could point a mere simpleton in the right direction? I currently trade multiple underlying long stock positions and I would like to be able to, in an ideal world, purchase a put option, say once or twice...

    shorting vs. being long

You might be OK with the top 500 stocks or so. But when you get a tiddler that pops 300% in one day (as I have had) you'd better be long that one! I cannot see how anything but the most liquid intruments would ever be worth shorting on a risk/reward basis for a purely directional play.

    Correct OPENING Price NASDAQ stocks?

Does anyone know what is the CORRECT opening price for the day session on nasdaq stocks? Often a number of data sources (both free and paid for) will AGREE a certain price for a stock's open (daily data, nothing fancy). All fine and dandy, except the official open according to NASDAQ (eg...

    Data Recovery

http://www.data-recovery-software.net/ rstudio is the bees knees. I had a hard drive that would work for an hour before (I guess, overheating?) not working. Hooked it up as a second drive, and over a four day period I imaged a quarter of it at a time using the imaging by sector tool...

    These Larry Williams systems..?!

looks to me like a simple system (they are the best sometimes). Something like: buy x% below the open. sell when you get another open that is higher than entry price. Or sell regardless after 10 days. No stops. Am I warm ? :)

    Jokes

Princess Di, Versace and Freddie Mercury up before the pearly gates. Heaven full that year so only one can be admitted. Each asked what they would bring to heaven in the way of skills. V says he will make pretty clothes for everyone. FM says he will hold free concerts. PD doesnt...

Proprietary FX Firm Offering Matched Funding

Reasons for me (as I used to trade CME): 1. My bank grades amount of money in high paying money market accounts. So to keep a good solid rate of 4-5% I try to keep as much as possible there. Therefore I want mimumal amount in broker accounts paying no/little interest. I just got a "wage"...

Proprietary FX Firm Offering Matched Funding

TO I trade with Oanda too and am very happy. But lets be realistic they are too new and too small to have any kind of adverse history yet!

Proprietary FX Firm Offering Matched Funding

TigerO To be fair it looks like most of the bigger FCMs have a "case" history. Its probably a "Goodfellas" thing in that industry - they are not respected until they lose their cherry! :) Besides which if that was the one with the Chinese woman, if memory serves (cant be bothered to look...

I'm looking to pay someone to backtest my strategies, in eSignal or TS

dd I am very proficient in backtesting, EL and quite good in Wealthlab. I also am quite up on all the pitfalls vs real life trading (now that was an expensive lesson!) However there is pretty much nothing new in the market. I will try and help you out (don't particularly want paying at...

Proprietary FX Firm Offering Matched Funding

gfx I really dont know what your problem is here. I doubt many of the people who have corrected you on this board have any previous bias except what with you have written sometimes. For myself I just wanted to correct your statement as I have personally bought and sold spot currency...

Proprietary FX Firm Offering Matched Funding

"The spreads are mostly 5 pips with 4 pips on the EUR/USD. I know most of you think that you can get 2 to 3 pip spreads. many firms out there say they have these spreads." Actually that is inaccurate. I have traded with OANDA for over a year now and their spreads are consistently 2-3 pips...

    Eur/usd

Interest rate differentials have widened back in favor of the dollar this morning, with the 10 year spread now at 35 bp, up 7 bp from yesterday, which could help contain rallies in EUR/USD. These are the highest levels in the spread, in favor of the USD, since August 27th last year. What...
