Hey tripleA, how ya been? Interesting point. But what was the eventual result of '87? In the long run, the weak dollar is a disaster for the US, in the short run it'll probably help W get relected, and somewhere in there I'd guess the stocks will probably decline somewhat (20%ish).

That's interesting.. I had a screen up on RealTick which kept showing SPY and QQQ trades pretty much continuously, with prices updating on ARCA and INSTINET.

Well, on OTC stocks, this is very likely, as there is no central order book, so the stock will actually trade at different prices all at the same time (thereby generating various upticks). On NYSE this is much less likely, particularly if the stock is getting hit hard. If you have options up...

What are you talking about? First, he was talking of Globex, so NASD, SIAC, NYSE, and Series 24 do not apply. Second, regarding your point #4, I certainly wouldn't want to use a system which wouldn't let me enter anorder because some other order was in limbo.
