    Personal Advice

Alot of the advice is very old school and some of it applies to when I started in the late 80s. I hardly trade at all anymore. The world is very very different now. The exchanges motives are more questionable today -- that wasn't the case say 10 years ago. I saw some Marty scwartz post about...

    Trading like a Local

I've actually been trading like this for two years. I stumbled upon the method several years ago and its taken a while to work out the kinks. Still working them out. But I'm getting there. In my opinion, its the safest method. And it works most of the time when executed correctly. But it is a...

Should I Keep Trading? Help/Advise need

I think the folks who talk about strictly price action with out all the gadgets are on the right track. Try to learn how to pick your spots and be fast. In your case - probably good idea to take a break for a while. As for there being an interest in mentoring -- its something I've been...

    Trading like a Local

It can be done, but there are a few caveats to it. The gentleman who started the post thinks you get filled immediately - doesn't work that way as someone else mentioned. Forget the sim - that's not reality.

I'm a new to the future market please help!

I've been checking out some of those Live Trading Rooms of late -- what a joke. I never actually sat in one...but they all seem to preach the same nonsense with their charts. Do any of them provide trading statements to verify their performance. I've been thinking about this of late and...

Day Trading Is A Dead End Job

Great point.. very true. Nevertheless day trading isn't a conventional business. It's nothing more than the biz of making tons of bets on the immediate future.

    My DAYTRADER story

Interesting thread. Hood makes a lot of good points. I agree w/ him for the most part. Day trading stocks is brutal..Its pure speculation and when those algo machines get a hold of a stock forget it. Most so called day traders are indeed fooling themselves because it is gambling. I've been in...

    Bond Futures turned 2 Sh*t

I don't trade the 10 year and I really don't spec much. If I do spec it's in the FV (and not often). So I'm talking about the 30 yr primarily. I don't think its the past 6mos. It seems that it got worse after memorial day. When the markets get fast, you can still get in and out , but the...

    Bond Futures turned 2 Sh*t

Anyone notice the character of the Bond futures have changed dramatically the past few weeks. 1) those machines just bid, bid and bid -- one way street. 2) Used to B much more liquid at B/A -- very hard getting in and out. Once in can't get out. 3) they are pinning the market when the bids get...

Whats the best way to learn trading bond futures using TA?

I've been doing this a long time. Don't waste your time. If you apply TA to the bond futures you will get killed. Take that $, and invest it. Don't touch it for 40 years. You'll B way better off. Trust me.

    Online Trading Academy

The big problem w/ these sort of operations is that it's just a bad business model. It's not like making hamburgers and running a real biz. trading is closer to playing poker for a living than having a steady job.. It's a roller coaster w/ bad patches. Very draining emotionally especially for...

Successful Swing traders, how do you get past this ?

Stock Day Traders always made up the biggest group of nitwits..... the markets are so choppy and disjointed - you're better off playing golf. But at least your on a better path. Good luck!

    emini addict

I just don't know what the attraction is to the E-mini. That contract is the biggest sucker bet out there. If you are half way decent at reading the tape and the emini isn't working for ya, give something else a try. Like US, GC, grains, -- you're just trading #s anyway.

    Bull$hit ICE cocoa action

Good point about cotton in '08. Total manipulation. Fact - all markets are manipulated. Crude does some crazy things overnight. I trade these markets occasionally - lately its been live cattle. But the way to avoid the manipulation screw job is speed. Get in and out, and don't carry overnight. I...

Which real live future trading room I should choose?

Man o man the markets are going insane (Fri. 10/30 12:45pm est.) - i believe and learned that speed (of the markets and of turning over positions) makes things easier & offers an edge to those who are willing to wait. I've never been in a live room but am not surprised what I'm hearing...

Which real live future trading room I should choose?

Consensus thinking permeates the trading room industry which is dominated by the "set up trading" approach. It is believed that somehow these "set ups' provide a real permanent edge w/ duration when of course they do not. If these set ups in fact provided a real edge -- the live trading room...

    Fidelity Active Trader Pro

Been using the platform for years w/ no major problems. Timely fills, good charts, $8 comm. I also have an Etrade account, and a few others, and don't see much of a difference. Platforms come more into play when trading futures. A big plus is that Fidelity has real money supporting their...
