Oh, for sure. I am only talking about equities. Thank you for clearing that up, I should have made that clear.

    US President election and Trading

The high level of attention on the U.S election is obviously understandable, but the focus on the market's reaction seems misguided. Step back and look at the environment and each scenario (dem vs rep win) individually. High Level Neither candidate can or will implement policy changes on...

    Sports Betting

I do both and I am constantly surprised at the similarities. The primary aspect that should remain constant is the money management. Bet size, drawdowns, risk, equity curves are all the same. There's a solid money management piece that I have used as a reference from time to time from Alpha...

How Many Traders Wager on Sports?

Not assuming. There are simply large parallels...both can be done profitably with a robust and back-tested system.

How Many Traders Wager on Sports?

Really excellent handicappers will get you above 60% winners with close to 1 : 1 payoff. That works out to about a 40% edge, certainly worthwhile in the trading world...

How Many Traders Wager on Sports?

Just out of curiosity, how many of you like to wager on sports (NFL, MLB, NHL etc)? My past careers have been in trading and I find the fields similar, speculative but while utilizing strong risk management...beatable.

    MACD/Trendline Swing Trader

You traded really, really well for the first half of '08 and have come off a bit. You just stated the problem. To me it seems as simple as going back to doing exactly what you were doing then. Back in your old posts you mentioned not day trading at all and getting your discipline...

Rashid, Also, out of curiosity do you every go back over your trades back when things were going really well? Seeing how many trades you took per day (more selective maybe?) I keep a trading log and it helps to go back through and review my thoughts from the strong performance periods.

    MACD/Trendline Swing Trader

110 seems very logical-just check the longterm trendline...that was the target I wrote down a few weeks ago. I have been in the trend for a little while so I can withstand a reasonable correction-I don't think I would short oil or get long airlines at this point unless it was very short term...

    Best Newspaper for Commodity News

I am going to subscibe to either the Wall Street Journal or the Financial Times in order to get daily news on commodities and currencies. I realize that both papers probably only have a page or two dedicated to this topic. My question is simply which one is better for content on...

    MACD/Trendline Swing Trader

Yeah, it's interesting. As you saw with your sizeable drawdown, sometimes trading strategies just flat out don't work (like the last couple weeks). Trades are currently working better, but the most profits have been kept by watching intra>day reversals versus the hourly or daily...

It varies as well. I will sometimes determine a target based on the chart and liquidate as it gets close. Otherwise an intraday reversal on an hourly chart usually makes sense.

    MACD/Trendline Swing Trader

8 seems like a strong possibility although I try not to target. The tight congestion enables me to put on some size, I have alot of option positions on at the moment so I am going to short the stock. As far as my exit goes, I am going to watch the hourly chart for a reversal or if it...
