Why scalping beats any other trading style

I feel there are a lot of misunderstandings about scalping. One of the key element of effective scalping is really about lowering risk by accurate entry. A good scalper should never have big losses, not to say blown out. Otherwise, there must be something wrong either with the method or the...

Professional grade Charting software - how to find good retail charting software

Ensign is a toy by your standard. Remember, trading skills are much more important than softwares. Softwares are only tools. As long as they suit your needs, that's fine. The same principle can applied to any tools, IMO.

    Ninja trader charts?

Since there are so many products available on the market, you have to do some investigation to determine which one best suites your needs. I'm using Ensign myself. There are many features in the software. I've actually only used a small fraction of them. For me the following features are...

Why scalping beats any other trading style

Another advantage for scalping: Scalping can work at any market conditions, up, down, sideway... there are slow but no garbage days for a good scalper. I'm unaware of any other trading approaches other than scalping to be able to work at any market conditions with consistency.

The "6" Golden Indicators...wow, you really need them BIG time!!

Interesting statement. I'm experiencing the other way. Indicators + price action > price action only. The math works in this way if the indicators are used correctly, IMO.

The "6" Golden Indicators...wow, you really need them BIG time!!

Indicators can lag. Indicators can lead also. It all boils down how to use them.

questions on using NinjaTrader to manage multi accounts

I have two accounts at IB(one Universal account, one IRA account). I want to have NinjaTrader to manage both of the accounts. I know I can accomplish this by using Account Groups feature in NinjaTrader. I have some questions regarding Account Groups: Below is what I have copied from...

Got my butt handed to me today on ES live

austinp, I respect your comment and advice. But I disagree with your comment on overtrading. 20-40 trades a day with positive outcome is not only permitted, but also very doable. It really depends on the trading method and the time frame. At current market conditions, there will be more...

profit target for scalpers/active day traders

gurucandidate, Apparently we are scalpers of different types. Your core strategy (in ER2 and CL) is to fade the move. I'm scalping in a very different way. Even though I call myself a scalper, I'm actually a swing trader by nature, just operating at lower time frames. The majority of my...

profit target for scalpers/active day traders

My past experience is that I will give back too much to the market if using trailing stop. I usually exit when I see the first sign of adverse price movement if my profit target has not been hit yet. I have to admit that I tend to exit earlier in many trades. This is definitely one aspect...

profit target for scalpers/active day traders

Profit target is an important and difficult issue for traders. I know this topic has been discussed a lot at ET. The reason I bring this topic again is that I want to limit the discussion specifically for scalpers/active day traders. This is no strict definition for scalpers/active day traders...

    NinjaTrader tick chart

I'm a new user of NinjaTrader 6.0. I'm using IB for data feed. I'm experiencing some problem with the tick chart. Whenever I close the software and reopen and connect to IB, there is a gap on the tick chart. The tick chart seems not backfill. On the other hand, the minute chart works just fine...

questions on Hang Seng future (HSI)

kiwi_trader, I've studied some charts on HSI during the last couple of days. I've some observations and some questions for you. 1) The gap between different days and two different sessions in the same trading day for HSI is quite big. The intraday range in the same session of a day is...

questions on Hang Seng future (HSI)

In US, there are many economic reports released regularly. These reports often have tremendous impact in the stock market. Stock index future day traders are aware of the time of the reports and adjust their trading accordingly. Does HSI have the same kind of character? If so, where can we get...

questions on Hang Seng future (HSI)

Thanks for your kind reply. I checked the set-up as you suggested. I found the reason for the problems - I used June 07 contract instead of May 07 contract. The front month for HSI is different from here in US. Now things worked pretty well.

questions on Hang Seng future (HSI)

Hi there, I'm living in the west coast of US. I'm interested in day trading Hang Seng future (HSI) in the evening. I've tested trading HSI on IB simulator. Here are what I've observed: 1) The chart is not updated in time. You can see the clear difference from the price of bid/ask and the...

Why scalping beats any other trading style

If the drawdown factor is considered, it is unlikely any other trading style can beat day trading/scalping. I've not found good information about the Sharpe ratio for different trading styles. I would imagine for a good discretionary day trader/scalper the Sharpe ratio can easily be more than 15...
