Using ETFs to trade World Indexes for Argentina

IMO I think you have to go with Interactive Brokers and actually buy the shares from the exchange in Argentina. I bought a few shares of VanEck Vietnam ETF and it just sucks. Trading is hard enough with out all this other execution risk/spread/bullshit stacked on top.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

IMO if you shop at Walmart for food you can get a good feel for the delta of CPI right now since you can bet on Walmart wanting to undercut everyone else if possible. Prices have pretty much stabilized. The problem is that was the easy part. Now what? Probably an overreaction here as the...

    TSLA 2022

All this is a great example of how if you haven't read Shiller's Narrative Economics you need to ASAP. So much of the population is hopelessly addicted to social media that there are levels to the narrative driving everything. Goes from a hero to unmentionable in the blink of an eye, "El*n"...

Which one of you guys were around for the 2008 crash?

I was going to say I wasn't on but I must have lurked on here as I couldn't stand reading Jack Hershey. At that time I was on a Myspace stock group. Mostly what I remember is how by 2010 most the people that liked talking about markets that I had known previously had vanished. I didn't place...

    FTX Collapsed…Here’s Why

I found Marc Cohodes who I instantly fell in love with. He had put out this sweet in August: This is the video from September that he talks about Bankman. https://app.hedgeye.com/insights/122943-marc-cohodes-ftx-is-dirty-rotten-to-the-core-hedgeye-investing-s?with_category=17-insights It...

    Who's having fun?

I have thought about shorting with BTC futures but I have missed the move at this point. I can see holding short here though still if it fits your risk tolerance. It is hard to imagine how there is not a contagion unleashed. The irony is this is the lender of last resort problem. Just like...

    Friday silver

I won't touch miners at this point. I have just never seen evidence that you get compensated at all for the extra risk compared to the underlie. Gold and silver are not going to do poorly and the miners do great. It is so easy though for gold and silver to do well and a particular mining stock...

    Bitcoin Price Thread

I mean they have the daily price on FRED https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/CBBTCUSD This is the part of the crypto narrative that is totally out to lunch to me. The crypto view of the Fed is basically the Creature From Jeckyl Island narrative but with the Fed ran by clueless gas station...

    Et tu, Sam Bankman-Fried?

Shit like this is why it is hard to take crypto seriously. It is ultimately why I don't trade the stuff. Not against it but the idea of trusting any of these exchanges with my capital is laughable.

    Election Night 2022 Thread

Power not flipping drastically here is incredibly fucked up. If that is the results here we truly are down the road to a one party system run by the Democrats. The rhetoric at this point from the Democrats is the most anti-democratic rhetoric possible. Basically, sharing power means democracy...

    Poll: Your mid-term projections

I am independent and just voted for Zeldin for NY Gov and all Republican. I normally couldn't care about voting since in NY it is usually a waste and Democrat autopilot win. This entire election is as easy to project as it ever gets. From that wise political Democrat sage:

    Bitcoin Bear Market Sentiment Check

I think we are like gold on this chart The stock market has an upward drift from producing cash but the very high gold prices causes a ton of mining to occur and then you get this massive over supply that needs to be worked off or needs to wait for a giant structural shift. I just don't know...

    Bitcoin Bear Market Sentiment Check

I am not a lover or hater either. I don't think BTC will ever go to zero but I also think the all time high is so far away it may as well be never. Without producing cash there is no upward drift. To me, it really is digital gold once people could buy gold again and the frenzy drove it to...

$6.99 for a jar of Helmans Mayonaise

Marketing, packaging and branding. There is nothing in existence that people are bigger fucking suckers with than food. Quaker oatmeal is the best example. Like 3x the price of off brand oatmeal and all you are getting is the Ben Franklin looking guy on the packaging. I wouldn't be shocked...

    Alameda is next

Interesting stuff. I was thinking about the cost of capital in general this morning and I do wonder how these Fed rate hikes actually effect the system. It would seem like it has to be that raising from 0 to .75 is not the same at all as raising from 3.25 to 4. I would think this last rate...

No Propeller Noise, Possible Decoy (Greyhound movie)

To be fair to Ralph Nelson Elliott, his financial data curation skills 90 years ago sounds pretty impressive. Interesting in the way some antiques can be interesting. You have to not fall prey though to this fallacy and magical thinking that there is some hidden knowledge known by the...

Doesn't 30% down feel about right for where this bear market should land?

IMO what you see with the Fed pivot narrative is that our society is on autopilot from the drive for clicks from the media and that most communication is just trading nonsense information back and forth. There is no evidence of a Fed pivot in the data at all but news stories about a Fed pivot...

    Mastodon

In reality, after this click bait story fades, no one will care about Mastodon and these infantile liberals will just be paying their 8 dollars a month with the justification they need to stay on twitter to "defend democracy".

    Sled Pulls for Knee Health

Anything will really do for a sled. I don't think it would be that much different to hook a rope to a kettlebell and pull it around. Even an old tire on grass I am sure would work. I have an old sled like this at home I just did my 7th session and my knees feel so amazing. Walking backwards...

    What happened to acrary?

It strikes me that we almost have a natural bias towards scale invariance when most things are not scale invariant. If someone has a profit margin of 40% from selling thrift store clothing on ebay no one would compare that to Google and believe they could scale the business to a trillion dollar...
