Interactive Brokers - conditional orders not working, why?

AAaaah, finally figured out the main issue, with help from IB support: That's what I had wrong. My workflow is almost always to start from the order entry window, submit orders then later modify them if needed. I never use the order ticket to start with (where conditions are specified)...

Interactive Brokers - conditional orders not working, why?

Ok, found it. IB tech support told me: it works, but you have to switch to "classic TWS" (I have it in a tab now, it's in the menus somewhere...). I don't see why this isn't enabled in Mosaic TWS then, but anyway...

Interactive Brokers - conditional orders not working, why?

I think so, either I don't remember me getting approved or I'm sellings lots of options without approval (don't tell the authorities!) ;-P Joking aside, I have a bunch of short contracts on options so I assume yes.

Interactive Brokers - conditional orders not working, why?

I'm trying to make a simple condition order: If QQQ falls <= 276 then sell 1x QQQ Nov20 267 put, limit at 10$. I believe that should all be ok, nothing fancy, but all buttons (add, edit) in the Conditional tab in Order Ticket are grayed out (disabled). Any ideas why ? I'd like to start using...

Alternatives to TWS that support IB's API

Thanks, that seems like a pretty decent arsenal. I'm liking TC2000 the more I spend time with it. I also have Thinkorswim but just haven't spent the time learning it much yet. Seems mighty but a bit intimidating, perhaps not the simplest to learn... But yea it does seem reasonable to have both...

Alternatives to TWS that support IB's API

I have a decent pc with 32GB rams, Windows 10 Pro core i7 3.75ghz with 250GB SSD. Only bottleneck perhaps is my GFX card. I purchased this box used but forgot about replacing the gfx card, I wanted to do it earlier. Maybe this'd help... I did increase TWS' ram settings, but didn't improve much I...

Alternatives to TWS that support IB's API

Yep, I also have maybe 100 options of some sorts (in a ratio of approx 20% combos, 20% shorts, maybe 60% longs). So yea being able to limit (throttle) the refresh rate on these would be a definite plus. But TWS rarely if ever gets real feature updates, so it seems obvious IB's not willing to...

Alternatives to TWS that support IB's API

I'm an active Canadian options swing trader / stock investor (say 50-50). A mix of medium-term (days/weeks/months) to long term (years). What are alternatives to TWS that connect with their API ? Some background: I'm very happy with IB's brokerage part, their back-end. It's rock solid, cheap...

Thoughts on ultra wide (34" up to 49") screens vs multi-monitors

I have 2 desks (in 2 rooms) : - one is a small 4' wide / 2' depth with keyboard + mouse in front. I'm leaning towards the 32" or 34" size for this one. No gaming, but it's in a bright room so display must be bright enough. - the other is a larger desk (maybe 5.5' x 3'), darker room (no window)...

Any usage statistics on indicators, signals out there ?

Thanks for the replies! I understand that tools, indicators and techniques make only part of the equation. Of course it also depends on what time frame, what market and what instruments, i.e. the context overall. I have enough experience to know to expect this, plus there's always a learning...

Any usage statistics on indicators, signals out there ?

And great site! Or rather, great data, lol! If you can get past the "I made my site with MS Word 3.1" look haha. My eyes bleed already after a quick look ;-P

Any usage statistics on indicators, signals out there ?

Another trader I know recommended that exact book. I'll make sure to read it then, thanks for the suggestion!

Thoughts on ultra wide (34" up to 49") screens vs multi-monitors

Hi!! Any thoughts on 34" / 49" / other ultrawide screens ? Prices are starting to be reasonable on these, sales coming soon (black Friday, etc). I'm thinking to get one of these, instead of a multi-monitor setup. I'm already biased against these, because of: - you typically lose your most...

Any usage statistics on indicators, signals out there ?

Thanks all! I'll probably find nothing more than anecdotes, which is useful still! Probably then a more scientific & objective method, based on facts, would be to analyze the stock market data, and find which signals maybe influenced the moves. I Imagine there's tons of quant / automated...

Any usage statistics on indicators, signals out there ?

Hi, I consider myself an intermediate (although full-time practically for 2 years) trader. Just to say I have a decent amount of education about markets, trading and T.A. But one topic that I'd like a clearer answer on, other than anecdotal points (I use this and that, he uses indicators ABC...
