    consistently trading at wrong times

Check out Connor's use of standard deviation channels, they've helped me tremendously as far as timing goes. I don't use his non-extended-hours thing, just the regular one works a treat. As the first commenter says, "With standard deviations, from a statistical standpoint the selected data is...

Small stops, large size VS. large stops, small size?

.60 of a $100 stock is .6%, .60 of a $10 stock is 6%...I have no clue here of what you consider to be a tight stop.

Think or Swim Issues today? 8/17/20

    Yes, it's driving me nuts.

Do you day trade, swing trade or position trade forex?

Standard deviation channels, RSI (custom settings), Moving averages and Stoch momentum index. Oh! And volume profile for some stuff (I don't pay attention to regular volume). Also, for scanning, I sometimes include ADX - everything has different reasons for use. Note, I deleted my original post...

Obsession with trading and the markets. Does it get better or only worse?

Ah, I see your point. I spent many months day-trading and the gun-to-the-head thing (ended up hating it with the heat of a thousand suns) does indeed make it a different animal.

Does / did anyone buy trading strategies?

The only way to learn trading is by doing it, fuckups and all. Wouldn't you rather have a real skill you understand from the inside out, rather than relying on someone else?

Obsession with trading and the markets. Does it get better or only worse?

Is it? My method works like this and I consider it a pro, not a con. If I only used the signal, it would take tons of trades that are iffy, but using discretionary weighting I have much better outcomes.

    Picking lots to sell

Etrade is super easy to sell separate lots w/Etrade Pro (not sure about their other interface). You just right-click the lot and it populates the order form with it. FYI, I use Etrade for buying/selling, but TOS for charting :)

Obsession with trading and the markets. Does it get better or only worse?

As for the original question, I'm a relatively new trader, it's been a little over a year. However, I moved to a place far from friends a few years ago to make a life transition in a hermity way. So when I got the stock obsession, I devoted every waking hour to it for over a year. This is not an...

Obsession with trading and the markets. Does it get better or only worse?

Oh yes, that's my "within reason" part :)

Obsession with trading and the markets. Does it get better or only worse?

I agree. The day I "discovered" channels, how symmetric they were, how they're all over the place, well...that took me from thinking it's all a random thing I don't understand to realizing how much is somewhat predictable. Of course, within reason, but the fact that there was anything that...

Obsession with trading and the markets. Does it get better or only worse?

This is cool to hear, because I always have about 70 positions going at once and it seemed like I must be the only one doing it since I never read of other folks doing the same. Many small positions means each position is, in effect, its stop loss. Very profitable method. Unlike you, I use low...

Do you keep a credit card ? Or only a debit ?

wrbtrader, I've only been a lurker on this forum for the past year, never engaged until today. I've seen your handle quite a bit in many threads but had absolutely no idea how repetitive you are. It's wild - on 6 pages of this thread, you've written the same post, worded slightly differently...

Do you keep a credit card ? Or only a debit ?

No, he was the co-signer due to his good credit. What he's not making clear is that he had loans since 1995! That is what kept his credit history intact.

Do you keep a credit card ? Or only a debit ?

LOL! This guy. You cannot check a credit score that does not exist! Damn, you are a stubbornly semantic soul, aren't you.

Do you keep a credit card ? Or only a debit ?

Correct, but if no loans or revolving credit, in 10 years you have no credit history at all. I'm done, this is boring.

Do you keep a credit card ? Or only a debit ?

Paying bills won't do shit for your credit score unless you don't pay them - they won't keep a credit score active. You had loans and that's what kept yours alive. If you have no action on your account for 10 years, it's all wiped...

Do you keep a credit card ? Or only a debit ?

Wrbtrader, that is untrue. I had a 20 year credit history with a great score. Then I cut up my cards and a few years later when I needed that score, it was gone. Completely. I suppose you have a long-term loan you are paying on, that would give you a score, but if you don't have a loan of any...

Do you keep a credit card ? Or only a debit ?

Always keep a credit card! I learned the hard way - I thought I was being virtuous about a decade ago by getting rid of all debt and cutting up my credit cards. It f*cked me over, ended up wiping my credit history completely! And I had a great credit score prior to that. The way I found out...
