    Importance of demo

This is what I'm going through currently. After I had experience trading live, then I treated the sim like real money. And I 100% have all of the emotional swings of real money. If someone can't figure out how to treat the sim like real money, they are in for some extremely expensive education...

adding to winners.. valid or no?

My method was I had an initial entry that I got in when ES dipped on the open on Thurs and got rejected from a volume node from the ETH. I had 5 lots MES with a 5 lot stop below the low. Then once it had gone my way enough to convince me that I was right and the low was in, I was looking to add...

adding to winners.. valid or no?

Thanks guys, I think there was some great points made here. Actually had one of my best trades in ES on Thurs by adding to a winner. :)

adding to winners.. valid or no?

I think this is very true and why I made the comment earlier that perhaps it depends on the level of noise on your time frame. On a swing time frame there is much less noise and moves are cleaner. Intraday it's crap and within those daily candles of a winning breakout there could be several...

adding to winners.. valid or no?

Did you take that trade? I took a long there on the open but I just scalped it. Where would your stop move to after those adds? It could dip below those consolidations and rip back up to a higher high, so you would still be right on the bigger picture but stopped on the add. Also it's very rare...

adding to winners.. valid or no?

LOL if we *knew* it was going to keep going up we'd be all in on full margin ;)

adding to winners.. valid or no?

Curious, which markets do you trade? I have a theory that adding to winners is more valid for thinner, momentum style markets like GC or CL, momo stocks like TSLA, tech stocks.. but in a mean reverting market like ES I think it's less valid... more breakouts will fail so if you add on...

adding to winners.. valid or no?

Hey Traders, hope you are doing well. I was wondering what you think about adding to winning trades and if you do this in your own trading. We all know the adage,"add to winners, cut losers short" but how and when do you add to a winning position? Of course, a 'winning position' is only...

Are highlights in Time and Sales dark pool orders

Yea I hear ya, I don't come from the perspective that any one little piece of information creates alpha. I'm coming from the perspective that many different variables together allow me to reach a certain thesis. The tape is just one of them. And it's like i'm staring at this damn thing every...

Are highlights in Time and Sales dark pool orders

Well man, all we ever do as traders comes down to an educated guess, it's all we got. The more information I can extrapolate from the tape will make me a better tape reader. You don't think identifying a hidden order is a valuable skill to a tape reader? I do.

Are highlights in Time and Sales dark pool orders

so in your time and sales, do you see TRF listed as the exchange in the print? I only ever see ADFN in LS. also we should keep in mind that since the dark pool trades are delayed, its unlikely that they would be so close to the NBBO since it is constantly changing. these prints are often just...

Has any of you ACTUALLY made more money from so called alternative data?

That's funny. and crazy.. I'm sure they would go to even much greater lengths for a little edge

Has any of you ACTUALLY made more money from so called alternative data?

lol so wait, you're saying hedge funds track this to get an edge on how retail sales are doing?

Are highlights in Time and Sales dark pool orders

very informative, LS does have a special window to display the sale conditions so I guess I'll try defining the rest of these terms, there's like 30 lol

Are highlights in Time and Sales dark pool orders

So you're saying all of these prints are delayed prints or just the ADFN ones? how do you believe the BATS and ARCA prints occured above the offer in your picture? ARCA/BATS don't offer alternative exchanges as far as I know, so these should not be delayed as such.

Are highlights in Time and Sales dark pool orders

interesting! So you believe these are mostly a latency/cross-quotation issue? It would make sense since I have multiple data subs for my lightspeed acct. However I do notice that a large number of these highlighted prints take place on ADFN exchange (a dark pool) and also, can come in large...

Are highlights in Time and Sales dark pool orders

Hey guys! My time and sales window displays highlighted green/red prints, different from usual green/red prints which are ON the bid/ask.. these are defined as prints that take place "ABOVE the ask or BELOW the bid" I assume that these are dark pool orders right? because otherwise this would be...

Brokers with shorts available for penny stocks?

wow, that is pretty neat. Have you used this feature in LS before? Like how long does the process take usually? I ask because I am a day trader and so time could be an issue..

Brokers with shorts available for penny stocks?

hmm never heard of velocity capital, their website doesn't really look like a broker. I have heard of trade zero but they are an offshore broker, which are known to be sketchy.. apparently people have lost a lot of money using those types of brokers. I use TOS for charting, but yea I would...
