Can anyone tell me some good stocks to trade that you can short on a downtick? I trade NYSE and look for a stock with decent volume and some good intraday swings - $20-40 stock usually. Thanks in advance.

Bloomberg, right? Think that isn't included with my cable but willl check. Actually, come to think of it, I have FXCM squawk box with asian news but think there is a bit of a delay. Any free subscriptions or sites that anyone knows about?

can't you be successful just by using stops and discipline?

During high volume period and since hybridization, NYSE has had delays with execution and cancellation of orders including orders routed to the floor like Inet Rash - not sure when this will be fixed.

Thought about that but would still be giving a fairly high percentage to the prop firms that I have checked out. The bonus would be increases in capital, while still taking home a paycheck - at home I would have to reinvest most/all of my profits. Why don't more people at prop firms trade...

One more thing; in an arrangement where the trader keeps 100%, would execution fees at the prop firm not be higher than fees to trade futures contracts (IB, for example)?

I am aware of that; I'm generalizing a little bit in order to determine if a successful prop trader could leave, trade futures from home, and have the same success or better. Are there disadvantages to futures vs stocks? I understand the diffuculties associated with daytrading stocks from...

not trading NASD right now - have traded GG for profit but get very frustrated trying to go short and I find it a little choppy - amd chart looks great, thanks! XOM looks pretty good aswell but same problem going short - I seem to read the short plays better and miss out on a lot of downside.

I have traded gg - very liquid but hard to get filled when the stock starts moving against you - price levels evaporate too quickly - has this changed since hybridization?

1000 - 5000 shares per trade (depends which stock) - about 100 trades per day. Net loss is about 350, lft is about 450

100 trades, not 100 shares - not planning on leaving anytime soon but 35% is hard to swallow - trying to make rent, etc. Any suggestions on other prop firms I could investigate? Which ones are the best? Would the trading environment be similar, ie ecn's, execution speed, etc?
