Covered Calls, what would you do?

The deal still needs FCC approval, which isn't a sure thing. It might take until the summer for it to close.

web site that gives merger and acquisition info on the London stock exchange (LSE)

The only website I know of that has anything close to the sort of information you are looking for has information about US stocks only. Go to http://www.mergerinvesting.com and contact the owner of the site to see if he will add stocks traded on the London exchange. I can't imagine it would be...

IB"security"...nearly cost me my job. awful

[/B] I am always amazed by the responses people receive on here if they discuss any issue they have with IB. I have used them along with other brokers, and don't feel like I have to jump to defend any of them if someone has a complaint. Maybe I'm crazy, but one of the hundreds of...

Trading 5000 blocks, still use IB?

I left IB for the same reason last year, but I don't scalp and I always use limit orders so I don't know what the big deal is about direct access. I was tired of paying double or triple what I would at other brokers and receiving nothing but a bad attitude in return.

    Barron’s New Best Brokers Rating

Thanks for the info. I have been looking for a broker (other than IB) that will allow me to trade international equities online, and I think this will be a good start. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Need some help on this MCDTA chart (image attached)

There's no point to looking up the chart now because MCDTA is no longer listed. McData (A Class MCDT, B Class MCDTA) was bought by Brocade in an all stock transaction that closed on 1/29. Each MCDTA share was worth 0.75 shares of BRCD, so MCDTA just reflected moves in BCRD. Not many equities...

    IB vs TD

I also have had accounts with both and closed out my IB account because I hadn't used it in a few months due to the difference in commissions i was paying (much more with IB, though it's $5 per 1000 shares, not $50 as you said). Plus IB's customer service and other tools are pretty poor in my...

    IB reporting problems

Are you talking about the P&L on your statements? If so, it is worthless in my experience. I had constant problems with them getting my P&L and cost basis correct when I traded options and a few covered calls with them, which is one of many reasons I closed my account. If you ask IB to...

IB: missing CHF, check your statements.

I had several problems with "missing money" and other various statement issues during my relatively brief stay with IB. I have used a few other brokers and never had any of these issues anywhere else.

IB commissions for low priced stocks

Bitstream, if you want lower commissions, just go somewhere else. I moved almost my entire IB account to AMTD, and purchased 6500 shares today for $9.99, with no fees, so I'm already about $27.50 ahead of where I would have been last week. You can keep complaining on here, or do something...

IB commissions for low priced stocks

Normally, none of things are a factor for the way I trade, and yes I trade well over 2000 shares at a time. I'll see how it works out. I already have an account with AMTD, so it's not like it was tough to move the money. If it ends up being more expensive, then I'll move back. I don't see...

IB commissions for low priced stocks

IB is great if you aren't trading many shares, but as my account grew, I was paying more and more commission since I had the ability to trade more shares. I don't trade enough volume to get any special treatment, so I just moved almost all of my account back to Ameritrade to take advantage of...

    Prosper.com

I thought it was pretty funny name myself, but still an interesting concept. I'm not sure who will actually end up prospering from this, if anyone. There isn't much capital available right now, and I suspect a lot of what is there is being lent by investors in the site.

    Prosper.com

I came across this site the other day, and thought it was interesting. You can borrow money from other members, basically by letting them bid on the interest rate. Since everyone here is capable of generating huge returns consistently (or so one would think), you could borrow money easily and...

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

I have been using IB for about 6 months now, and I think they are just right for my needs. However, my suggestions would be: 1. Add a row showing the account overnight buying power amount, not just the amount for daytrading. 2. Add a column that lets you know the margin maintenance...
