I was never on R-Trader and have never used it. I think a bunch of people have me crossed with someone else.

Excel shutting down with IB API

Autorecovery is on and is set to 10 mins. When excel shuts down, it just completely shuts off as if I killed process. Strange.

Excel shutting down with IB API

I tried it with 2007 and it was really bad. Reverted back to 2003 and it works fine. My Excel still shuts down at 1:15 every day though.

Excel shutting down with IB API

Pull the data using the IB provided sheet is cumbersome. Try the IB Excel Adaptor and you will see how simple it is to pull in as many symbols as you want.

Excel shutting down with IB API

Yes, I have used the IB Excel Adaptor to pull in Fast Cash and other data and it works just fine. It is a little slower than pulling data off CQG directly, but it is impossible to be fast enough to benefit from the extra 200 ms or so difference. The IB DDE is near impossible to use cleanly via a...

Excel shutting down with IB API

Is there any particular reason it would shut down Excel over something else? Also, how do you think it would explain the fact that it shuts down at exactly the same time every day? Interesting points though.

Excel shutting down with IB API

IB doesn't actually shut down. The IB software continues running but Excel shuts down at almost exactly 1:15 PM CT every day. I then go to click on the worksheet to start it again. It never saves the changes before it shuts down. Very mysterious.

Excel shutting down with IB API

Hi folks, I'm using an Excel sheet to track a bunch of markets using IB Excel Adaptor (http://www.cyberxpert.com/downloads.html). It seems like at around 1 pm CT, Excel shuts down completely without saving any changes I made to the spreadsheet. IB continues to run. I actually upgraded...

    Monitor to drool for

Hmmm... for trading purposes... I would still take my matrix of 19" monitors over one big unit like that. I would hate to be out of luck when this one big screen has a malfunction. A matrix of multiple monitors gives me automatic backup screens to trade with after reconfiguring the desktop...

    Wiring for a trading computer

I don't know what the maximum bandwidth on a regular telelphone line is, but it is not going to be any where than the bandwidth coming from the local curb on the street to your house. Trust me, it is plenty. If your house wiring isn't good enough, then they would have to run something special...

    Wiring for a trading computer

Your phone jack is likely an RJ11 interface (narrow little plastic piece with 4 copper contacts on it). Your CAT 5e or 6 has an RJ45 interface (wide plastic piece with 8 copper contacts on it). The wire that comes with your phone company is plenty enough to give you the full bandwidth you can...

    High Speed Internet

That is the bandwidth at work where I'm writing from. My clearing firm's internet connection runs at 100 mbps. My home service is 6 mbps, but I don't trade from there. I'm in the CBOT building as I type this doing my homework for the week. The free email services do get flooded with spam when...

    Question about Mac/PC internet speed

How are you testing the connection? How are the computer connected to the network? Is the G5 caching some of the data that the PC might be redownloading? What is your advertised download/upload speed from your ISP? There are a lot of little nuances that can make the difference. FT71
