Interesting comparison of spreads and data - FXDD vs. FXCM vs. InterbankFX

Hello all, Here is a nice comparison of the spreads for end of day July 2nd, 2010 for FXDD vs. FXCM vs. InterBankFX. I'm currently trying to find which broker will give me the most reliable data as I depend on it to produce a DDE-based Excel spreadsheet. And also I am developing an...

    Interactive Brokers

I use most of them and all of their platforms. So I'm with FXCM, IB, InterbankFX, and FXDD. But not OANDA. I would say that IB has good consistent spreads. the most divergence I've seen is about 4-5 during highly volatile periods. However IB calculates spreads to the 5th decimal point...

Deciding on a Backtesting and Trading Platform

I had a look at QuotesPlus and the data is not reliable. The company/person responsible for QuotesPlus data uses various data sources from Morningstar Reuters etc ... but the management of that process is not good. All in all, the best sources of data come from Reuters/Thomson (for eps...

Deciding on a Backtesting and Trading Platform

At the moment, it is only current fundamental data. But depending on what you're trying to do, you can get around it if you're smart. So for example; if I'm looking to try and get 2008 EPS figures into Amibroker, then what I would do is import that into amibroker using the import wizard by...

A question on TradeStation's data import abilities.

Hello EliteTraders, I have a very specific question about TradeStation and it's data capabilities. I have a fundamental data set; earnings revisions history, for about 5000 stocks. I would like to import this data into the dataset in TradeStation via CSV or ASCII format. I would...

Deciding on a Backtesting and Trading Platform

Hi all, First, I just want to say that this is a fantastic thread and has been very helpful. I just wanted to add my thoughts on this thread and add my own review of Amibroker. I do notice that there's a three or four horse race here; - Amibroker - TradersStudio - Tradestation -...

Yeah I knew this. And wanted to change it, however the admins won't let me. See here: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=186538 You can't change a poll for some reason. Dumb EliteTrader website. Outdated. Please do your best, and just choose your favorite, or...

Hi Joe, Thanks for replying. I just want to change the poll so that it is non-mutually exclusive. i.e. you can choose a multiple number of poll options rather than just one. thanks.

Which data subscriptions do you subscribe to with IB?

Hi all, I'm just trying to get a sense of which data and feed packages are worth the money and if it's better off finding a different data provider(s). If you use others please list them here and your experiences. I'm particularly interest to hear from anyone who has had experiences...

Google vs. Yahoo for backtest data

It really depends how you trade. If you're a position trader with a medium term time horizon then EOD is sufficient.

Google vs. Yahoo for backtest data

How would I open multiple TCP connections when I download my data through the backtesting platform?? I would figure that it is possible to do it via excel format with a straight download into csv files, however what if do it via a program included in the backtesting platform? At the moment...

Google vs. Yahoo for backtest data

Only drawback from yahoo for me right now is how slow the data gets downloaded from their servers. So if you're looking at a large list of stocks/instruments, the download to update your database is gonna take a long time. The speeds rarely go above 50-100KB/s or in Mbit terms that is...

Google vs. Yahoo for backtest data

I use Yahoo. They've been around for longer and their servers are used to these kinds of requests. I don't think Google has the extensive database and diversity of data that Yahoo has. But if you're looking for just simple price data, might give Google a shot.
