    Trading Someone Else's Account

Technically, you should have a notarized Limited Power of Attorney form signed by her giving you authority to trade her account. But, really, who are you going to tell?

    Trader P/L 2008

Only traded half the day, but it was a good 1/2 day.

    Calling it quits

It's a con that's often run here. Some shill posts a wah, wah, I'm quitting after X number of years of trying because I suck and then another shill working for the same site or chat room posts about how all the quitter needs to do is sign up for an overpriced chat room and they would be a...

Rookie Trader Journal - Advice Welcome

Hey krolyk55, I've been reading your journal for the past week and I am rooting for you. Here is one lesson I've learned the HARD way: Trading to recover losses from the previous day is one of the greatest trader sins. It promotes trading for trading's sake instead of being as patient as...

    Career Trading out of college

I'd say you should change your major and stay in school. You clearly don't like your finance major, but that doesn't mean you should ditch college. The fact is, a lot of people change their majors. And like a previous poster mentioned, you can trade remote while you are still in school, which...

Is the Eurex data very unstable?

The problem was not unique to IB. Other firms also had data issues this morning. Eurex trading was not halted, though, as I was watching every tick on eSignal.

    Is Trading Worth the Effort?

It seems to me that trading is indeed one of the hardest careers out there and few are consistently profitable at it. That said, is it worth the effort, time, monetary loss, and frustration it takes to succeed at trading?

Does IB have a plan to lower E mini commissions?

Unless competitors are also planning to lower their e-mini commissions, why would IB want to lower theirs? For retail brokers (who don't care how much or how little trading you do each month), they are still pretty much the lowest out there. There is no reason in the world they would lower...

    '' The Luck Factor ''

This post says it all. My entire life changed one morning because I woke up on time instead of sleeping in like I wanted to.

    my last 7 trades

I haven't read this entire thread, so I may very well be saying something that has already been said, but Ed Seykota's contention (from the first Market Wizards book) that everyone gets what they want from the market, even if it is failure, rings very true. Just my 0.000001 worth of pop...

Any one know Alex Elder personally?

My understanding is that he only does swing trading and longer-term holds...so he's not necessarily tied to the computer screen all day long like a day trader.

    Utterly Useless Verbiage

Astride the bull, I reach home. I am serene. The bull too can rest. The dawn has come. In blissful repose, Within my thatched dwelling I have aban- doned the whip and rope. - Katkuan

What Will You Do When You Go Bust?

I felt compelled to post a reply because I am going through a similar situation that you are. I am slowly bleeding, on an almost daily basis. But I have had the experience of blowing out before, back in 1998. In 1997 I started trading full-time (and this was the beginning of the tech bubble...

I'm the most consistent trader in the world

Your statement makes a lot of sense. I spent some time last night reviewing my trading records covering the past year and I found that there was a correlation between # of trades per day and my daily P&L. The higher the number of trades, the more money I lost, I discovered. I had already...

I'm the most consistent trader in the world

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [/b]Honestly, I am not trying to be a scalper. I'm trying to go for the larger intra-day swings, but I have a bad habit of exiting too soon. Sorry, you lost me there. No, I was using...

I'm the most consistent trader in the world

I'm going to try this. At the very least it will be a good trading exercise drill for me. Who knows? Maybe I'll actually start hitting the occasional big winner if I can just walk away and not have to sweat out the little retracements while physically sitting in front of the computer...

I'm the most consistent trader in the world

I'm the most consistent trader in the world

Db, you and ddefina are absolutely right. I cut my profits short. I'll take stops as large as 5 ES points (although my typical loser is -2 or -3 points), but when I have a 0.50 or 0.75 point gain dangling in front of me like a carrot in front of a rabbit, I snap it up...only to watch it later...
