I agree and I understand. So how far back do you guys test price-action setups/patterns in order to have a sample size large enough through various market conditions to trade the setup with confidence?

What is an acceptable sample size for you guys? 500 trades? Looking back 2 years to cover all market conditions? Etc..

What about the ES, TF, or NQ? I think you mentioned that you've traded the ES before.

Nodoji, what's the answer to your test? If a trader can't follow rules or keep their discipline in check even 2 losing trades in a row will shake them up.

I have a few different strategies I would like to Backtest. Strictly futures markets. Where can I get intra-day data on the various e-mini's that can be downloaded into excel? I am new to backtesting so any advice or suggestions on how to get started would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for a site that gives historic charts of cotton, corn, S&P's etc.. going back more than 10 years. I have found a bunch of sites that give free charts going two years back but anything past that is tough to find. Any suggestions? Thanks

For some reason I keep getting disconnected from the Tradestation Server. I am running code through a SIM account and every time I get disconnected my strategies are no longer applied to my charts. I am missing orders and it is frustrating even though I am only disconnected for 30 secs or so...
