    Historical MiniOil Data?

I'm looking for open/close info for the last 60 - 90 days of QM contracts for the last several months - longer if i can find it. Any guidance on how/where to find that is appreciated. Best! Lisa

Most noobies lose money, but that is exactly what they should do

Triggger, you are so right! That was the case for me. All kinds of great success in my sim account and barely treading water in the real deal (I started about a month ago). Real money changes everything because you just can't account for how much emotion plays into to it until you are...

    Turning 2.5k into 100k

This is just a tough market in which to trade with small capital. The volatility is hard. I'm down -$35 for the day and decided I needed to quit trying today rather than try so hard to make it back into the black and possibly widen my loss. Tomorrow is another day.

    Turning 2.5k into 100k

Right there with you man! :) In my case, my husband and I own a small business (and yes, things kind of suck right now in this market) but I have started to concentrate almost exclusively on the trading. I'm looking to turn it in to a second income as well. Glad you're hear and just...

    Managing risk in futures

I've started playing with spread trades a little bit in my sim account. Don't have my arms around it yet and have alot to learn. I'm spending a lot of time reading/watching about the broader market and trying to figure out what the heck's going on and where we're headed.

    Managing risk in futures

I appreciate everyone's input here and everything everyone has said has given me something to think about. I have greatly reduced my trading and gone back to a lot of "watching". Of course, i think that's wise given the current climate anyway. One big issue, I think, is the risk to...

    Managing risk in futures

First of all: Thank you to everyone. You’ve been most kind. I was almost afraid to post because I’ve seen people be kinda nasty at times on here. I will certainly be looking into all the advice that’s been given and looking to work my plan. Also, I think I need to back off a bit...

    Managing risk in futures

SideShowBob - First of all, love the name. :) I suppose you cut to the heart of it when you say that some of these other trade strategies provide insurance but limit profit. I want the insurance and ALL of the profits. :D RTrader 2525 - I haven't looked at spread trading. As I posted...

    Managing risk in futures

I guess it's time to do some more research! :) I've spent the last three months just immersing myself in as much as possible about futures, but I haven't spent any time on options. Thank you!

    Managing risk in futures

I'm a new futures trader with lots to learn but I wanted to start a discussion about realistic risk management in futures trading. Maybe it's just that the market is so volatile right now, but I've found it quite difficult to manage risk and still get in on trends. My plan was to limit...

    Lost my account

Thank you for posting this! I just started two months ago with 11k, and right now I'm licking my wounds at about $9700. Some days are just so discouraging and today has been one for me. Your post reminded me that losses are normal when starting and reading everyone's encouragement to you...

    Sunday morning Oil trading.

Newbie here, Can you tell me why the oil markets are open this morning? Don't they normally open at 5:00pm central time? I don't understand why they have the earlier open today. Any explanation is appreciated. Also... if markets are set to open at an unusual time, where is that sort...

Ike Forces Shutdown of 19% of U.S. Refining Capacity

Newbie question here: I notice that both oil and mini oil opened this morning at around 9am central time. Normally, they open at 5pm central time. Why are they open now?

    Corn Crash!

I'm in Texas, so Central Standard Time. If it's 6:30 for you in mountain, that means 7:30 for me.... gotta drag it outta bed! Lots of conflicting thoughts here..... (name of the game, eh?) it will be interesting to see what the report says and if it creates significant movement.

    Corn Crash!

Stupid question from a newbie futures researcher here.....:D I see on the USDA site that tomorrow's crop report is listed for 8:30am. Is that EST or CST? For those of you experienced in these things, do the markets tend to start moving ahead of the official report. (leaking info...

You are not a trader, you are an evil speculator!

Do you think the masses would have a problem with "speculators" if they were driving the price of oil DOWN? I'm thinking no. This is a case of looking for a scapegoat for a market that is hard on consumer's pocketbooks.
