Reminds me of one of my limericks from 22 years ago : There was a young trader from Bright, Who blew up his account overnight, He shorted the yen, And then buggered a hen, Much to Donald and Robert's delight.

    Yawn....... Israel attacked by Hamas

Quoting thezogpress.wordcom is a new low, even for @themickey. While he's at it, maybe he could indulge us with a similar breakdown of the Manhattan Project.

    Actually it's only a 15.7% drawdown.

    Why Sam Altman got fired

I enjoyed reading your post. This is what happens to most EA's around late October, mid-November. Fret not, tax season will soon be upon us.

    Index futures automation

    1) The magic number is an integer data type associated with and identifying a particular order and has nothing to do with the actual price quotes. 2) The simple EA's are just to open a trade in one MT5 instance and to see if it's possible to close it in a 2nd MT5 instance using the same magic...

    Index futures automation

Whatever the reason, it's almost certain that the 2nd MT5 instance is the culprit.

    Index futures automation

    Here's a simple EA to sell 1 MNQ on 1 MT5 instance : long magic_number=12345; #include <Trade\Trade.mqh> CTrade m_trade; // trading object int OnInit() { m_trade.SetExpertMagicNumber(magic_number); m_trade.Sell(1,"MNQZ23",0,0,0); return(INIT_SUCCEEDED); } void...

    Index futures automation

For your peace of mind, open a 1 lot of MNQ in one MT5 instance and then immediately try closing it using the same magic number in the second MT5 instance. If it is closed then you have your answer. To date, every "bug" that you've encountered in MT5 has had a logical explanation.

Perhaps it's time to spend some of the $8k (or whatever it came to) of the algo's unexpected bug-induced windfalls towards some professional software development, whether it be in QT, MT5 or another platform like NT.

I'm programming that bot like I'm dashing to the nearest casino. Humor, my friend. Or was that your attempt at humor?

Prudent Risk Management Is The Only True Edge In TRADING

"Cut your losses short and let your winners run. Excellent advice, but you're talking generalities. When you get to the specifics of how to do this, it becomes a lot more complicated and without some type of edge all you are going to do is delay taking your trading account to zero." @deaddog...

Prudent Risk Management Is The Only True Edge In TRADING

Programming the bot as we speak. Thanks for the tip. I live in Vegas and am now making a frantic dash for the nearest casino to put PRM into action.

Prudent Risk Management Is The Only True Edge In TRADING

I was trying to make the same point as @taowave in our little exchange here. Your edge is not due to cutting your losses quickly and letting your winners run, but rather your stock selection (and probably other factors). Otherwise any monkey could write a bot that picks random stocks and cuts...

AMP Europe ditching Level 2 futures feed...

I understand. However, AMP will keep charging you for CME Level 2 data because you enrolled for it and the onus is on you to cancel it. There are other free platforms with Level 2 (like CQG QTrader) which you can use. If you want MT5 and Level 2, then you may have to try another broker.
