They said this "Please note that if you are looking to lease a seat, IBKR has an internal equity requirement that must be met before we would guarantee a customer's lease. This does not apply to purchased seats." The internal equity requirement they quoted me is ridiculously high.

I heard that in order to lease a seat, your FCM must guarantee the seat value to the lessor. IBKR wants a really large equity cushion to do this even though the seats I'm looking at are around 40k to 200k.

I was told by a couple leasing brokers that the lessors require a guarantee from the FCM in order to lease a seat to me. It would be great if this isn't accurate? I have no interest in buying a seat.
