    Fund Managers

Next question: If you are trading and making money at it why don't you quit your day job and do it full time? (again - a genuine question asked because I know someone asking themselves that question)

    Fund Managers

George Bernard Shaw . . . Quote: "Those who can, do; those who can’t, teach" Does that apply to fund managers, "Those that can trade, trade; those that can't trade for others" f they are able to make money trading other peoples money why don't they just trade for themselves? (I'm not having a...

    Tastyworks v TradingView

I Think I've found the answer to my question: Tastyworks is for Active Traders Who Primarily Trade Options. All the features and tools in TastyWorks are geared toward option traders. It’s Not for Stock Traders. TastyWorks has purposefully stripped out almost all the features that may be...

    Tastyworks v TradingView

After much more study, at some point in the future, I may dip my toes into the dark deep pool of options trading. In the interim I would like to buy some stock to hold long term (min 5 years) in the hope that my hard earned savings might at least keep pace with inflation. To do that and to get...

    New to trading options

My two weeks of daily hard work (study) has left me with the knowledge of the mechanics of Option Trading (how to do it) and some knowledge of how to do it responsibly. But it has also left me feeling that I must have an in-depth knowledge of the companies I trade in AND I must study them every...

    Options' Strategies

Chris Butler (YouTube Tutorial) finishes with the following words: Start with Vertical Spreads (buying call spreads, buying put spreads, shorting call spreads and shorting put spreads). They have limited risk you will pay less with a spread than you would simply Buying a Call or PUT. With...

Buy a Call Option v Sell a Put Option

Surely that’s a contradiction in terms. If ask questions and gain knowledge avoiding hard work that is surely and intelligent (intellectual) way to do it?

Thanks for the helpful post - I will take some time to study it.

Buy a Call Option v Sell a Put Option

Chris Butler (the guy in the YouTube tutorial) says that he did 300 hours of study before he did his first trade. At 4 hours a day that's about 75 days. I reckon I've done 30 hours max. I know I've got a LOT to do before I put up any money.

Buy a Call Option v Sell a Put Option

Thanks - I have learned a LOT from You Tube and now this forum AND I am painfully aware that whilst I have learned a lot it's an iceberg and so far I have just chipped away a few pieces but in my life I've tackled many icebergs and I know that if I keep chipping away at it I will beat it.

Buy a Call Option v Sell a Put Option

Thanks. I'd be grateful for a brief explanation (example). I can understand how I might believe a stock is going to rise to x in y days but how do I match that / compare that with the implied volatility?

Buy a Call Option v Sell a Put Option

CALL OPTION I buy a CALL Option believing the stock will rise above my Strike price. I profit when I close that Option at a price above my Strike Price. SHORTING a PUT OPTION I short (sell) a Put option believing the stock will rise above my Strike price. I profit when I close that Option at...

    Options (Beginner)

Thanks for the replies particularly the last lengthy reply which I will have to read a few times. I am here to learn and I am grateful for help. This YouTube tutorial was helpful because it assumed I knew nothing (which is correct) and went through the four options methodically step by step...
