Just curious... Why do you use individual stocks instead of ETF's or other index-type products?

On one of the TV talk shows recently some academic from the Democratic side said the cost of healthcare is too high for "ordinary" Americans. While I agree, I also wonder what their definition is of an "ordinary" American.

Thanks for the info Mark. I have been adding calendars to my IC positions as a defensive move when the underlying moves too far. When would you use a calendar and when do you think it would be better to buy back the endangered vertical and sell another further out of the money?

I thought TOS meets the commish rates of most online brokers, apparently that seems to have changed. I called and spoke w/one of their reps about a month ago and was told they would go as low as $.50 per contract on spreads. I was told on Friday they expect someone to be doing at least 2000...

Most firms will still expect you to maintain your E&O at about $2k/year plus do a minimum amount of production per year. That minimum varies per firm. Most firms nowadays would not do it.

Good point SForce. There are plenty of people out there with 5k to trade with who will be drawn to the low price. That's OH's high profit trades. Orderflow shouldn't be a concern if a trader makes certain to only place limit orders, so when the trade executes it's at the price the trader decides...

I hear ya. There will be no perfect broker, not even TOS. I don't day trade or do futures. Can't afford the time, tried it, can't do it. Would like to be flat at the close, but just not the right time for me. Gotta set up high % positions and manage them. Works better for me. OH just might be a...
