Ever thought of leaving your job? Listen to my story, pro trading behind the scenes

I think about my old man. How hard he made me work before I got this shot. How I started to resent him a bit...but now, appreciate him more than he'll know. He worked like this, and he made it, with no college degree and nothing going for him...and he wanted me to do the same. My advice is...

Prop firms can short any stock

Go with someone who clears thru one of the bigger houses. SLK ( Goldman Sachs) has always had a good stock loan department, so find someone who clears thru them. But . with the new rules regarding shorts, it has been increasingly difficult to do so this year. Trade futures;its easier ,ande...

    Geneva Trading

I am fairly certain that it has nothing to do w/ Joe Ritchie. Ask Geneva if they still take newbies out in the woods, give them a few mundane tools, and leave them there for a couple of days and nights to figure how to get food, shelter, etc. As others have stated, the payout is quite low.

Refco sells stake to Thomas H. Lee

A couple of points here.. Roy E. Friedman , the REF, died last year, and he was out of the picture anyway. Phil Bennett, current CEO, sold stock, as did Thomas Lee, to recoup some money back from their purchase. Why go public now?" Sell when you can, not when you have to "has always been an...

Is this a bad equity market?

spydertrader has it right..you have to have to have much more of a system. Gone are the days of " gee GS is outperforming ,and if the spoos turn around, I will buy the GS offer". you have to have much more, and you have to be disciplined enough NOT to trade, if your criteria for entering a trade...

    Durable Goods

You have to absolutely look at the revisions. This report is perhaps the most voaltile economic report out there.Chances are if you think rationally it should be going one way,and it isnt, then many others are on the same ( wrong ) side as you, exerbating the move. Trade what is happening, not what...

    Lack of volatility ??

of course we have all seen it,mostly in the equities. Have seen in it also in S & p; which make sense. Look at the vix from one year ago; it is half of that value. Either trade bigger size and try to take less out of it,or change your criteria to get into a trade. Trade the treasuries these...

    crashing?

I witnessed first hand the crash of 87 and 89. 87 I was a newbie, freaking out a bit as many a more experienced trader rushed to his clearinghouse to get money out,and that several banks near the BOT had long lines of guys wanting to do the same thing. A very frightening time. Thought Id...

    futures prop

RTS looks for an undergrad degree , at minimum,in one of the business majors, but we have had persons from other backgrounds do well also. But the challenge for them is to make themselves more knowledgeable in the industry/profession,and then exhibit that knowledge/desire beyond a standard resume.

    futures prop

At Refco Trading Services, you DO NOT need a series 3. The manager needs a series 3 if hes dealing with own account customers. No contribution is necessary, but clearly you have to be highly motivated. A thorough interview process is involved, and you will be taught the technicals necessary to...
