Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

Here is another tactic for range trading. First I identify it as a range by the criteria mentioned in my posts above. This tactic can work on ANY TF range. I short in the top third of the range with limit orders and add to the position if the price move against me. That is, I average down short...

I suppose that depends on the trader and his/her personality but much more $$$ can be made trading short-term than long term. Just look how many scalps are on this chart. Add trading SIZE TO IT and a lot of $$ can be made when market is basically going nowhere. In what many call “noise” or chop...

Quick moves up and down. Confusion. Which way is the market going? This helps identify range behavior. Race to bottom. Race to the top. Looks like it is gonna break out the reverses right back into the range. This post and my previous posts help Identify range behavior.

Overlapping bars = bulls and bears both strong. And about equal. That is why the lateral movement forms known as a range. Sooner or later one side wins and we get a SUCCESSFUL BO of the range. Many BO attempts will be attempted by both sides, eventually one side will win but ...UNTIL...I can...

Reading pressures for scalping is important for high win rate and successful trading. And for determining SL’s and PT’s. Tails on bars are involved in reading pressures. Short with limit orders near tops of red circles even if on next bar and probability is good that I can exit with a profit in...

You make a valid point on identifying the lateral movement. But that is why you have to WAIT and see if a developing range starting from the lateral movement. 10 to 20 bars with the characteristics of the bars described above is usually enough. Then I start trading it using range tactics. That...

Me thinks you are complicating it more than it needs to be. I would just focus on getting good at reading price action intraday on 5,15,30 min charts for any session you choose to operate in. It appears you are trying to correlate intraday with weekly. For intraday scalping 1 to 8 points in say...

Intraday scalping gains very little, if any, useful info from looking at a weekly chart. What happened last week means little to nothing for the next 5 to 30 minutes. So why complicate matters and make decisions more complex? I try to stick to binary choices in decision making for executing...

You never answered my question about your chart in your post 143 : what phase of the cycle do you think your chart in post 143 is in? I asked this question to you in my posts about randomness..etc Nevertheless, I will answer it. It is important to understand. If you had to draw an arrow which...

All Time Frame charts SHOW the tendencies of the market and the probabilities of directional movements. THE larger TF’s simply show the tendencies, probabilities, and market phase cycle in the location that the same thing in the smaller TF’s are taking place in the moment. That is, whatever is...

That one hour chart you posted in your post 143 IS NOT random. “Randomness is the lack of pattern or predictability in events. A random sequence of events, symbols or steps has no order and does not follow an intelligible pattern or combination. ... The fields of mathematics, probability, and...

There will be a reversal and reversion at some point but price action will indicate it. The only indication of a possible reversion in the form of a reversal is that last bar on your hourly chart but even that is not enough to start shorting on the hourly chart. I would want more info given by...

In the face of such strong bullish PA I would not be shorting on down bars or PB’s but I would be going long or adding long on the PB’s. Were you watching overbought/oversold indicators?

Here is an analysis of the one hour chart. Study the three charts I marked up and the comments. IF were placing trades off the 60 minute chart I would NOT EVEN short that big last bear bar until I saw a test of the previous and that test fail then one or more FT bars and then a pb from the FT...

I am not sure why you are shorting this (in your post 126). Why did you want to short such strong bullish PA? And why short the hourly in post #124? What is your reasoning for shorting?

Your welcome. Just remember when I am using the averaging down techniques I discuss in my journal it always has to be in the correct context to use them and it does take quite a bit of time to learn what those contexts are and to practice trading them.
