There you go. New LOD and instant 7 point retrace. This is what I alluded to the other day. I don't recall the markets being this snappy in the past (10 years past). But maybe it's just me. I'm looking for signs of a bottom though - and this may been it.

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

I was primarily looking for a swing up to 2875,75, but it's hard to say from here. I have the feeling we won't get a very orderly sell-off either way with NQ being fairly strong in comparison. Higher time frames look very heavy, though and internals are generally weak so far. Open gap at 2828.

    Hedging ES with MES

Considering the commission structure on MES vs ES - wouldn't it make more sense to swing trade MES and intraday trade ES? It depens on the trade frequency of course, but you really quickly rack up commissions when scalping the MES with a high trading frequency. But I do like the idea. I've...

    Hedging ES with MES

I think this is what you needs to solve - not hedging. ES generally isn't a breakout instrument and pretty much always retraces. Try to get in on retraces and not on breakouts or in the middle of moves/trading ranges. Practice watching a move and accepting that you missed it. Resist the urge...

Breaking the LOD - if it happens, may be worth a good 27 points or so.

Since when did this pattern start? Have not noticed it until recently.

I was half joking. :) I usually have a rough idea about how the day will evolve, but I can't say how we'll end up there. For example - I didn't anticipate we'd retrace this far from the HOD. That said - I do think there are people who have excellent entries with a high strike rate. But a part...

I'm still leaning long. Just don't like it when price don't go in a straight line to my target. ;) And I still get doubts on those strong counter swings...

Or maybe we're not done below after all. NQ in the red now and closing in on the LOD. Looking heavy...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Long and done for the day. I feel strongly about 2930, but I can't say the path up there. You had an excellent entry and it was a great scalp. I hope you at least got out B/E. :) The trend was clearly down into the Open, so I was leaning short too. But when we broke below yesterday's Low...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Going for 2950, yes? I still think the gap at 2970,50 is a likely target today too. But not playing it. While the trend is very clearly long - I'm too nervous to enter from here as it can either reverse or experience a deep pullback before resumption. Live to fight another day.

Or just keep inching higher...slowly. Even though I see the long side from here, I'm not trading it. Just managed to squeeze 2 points out of a long which was 4 points in the red, but took profits as soon as I could as I lack conviction to hold. Probably just going to call it a day from here...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Open Gap at 2970,50. Wouldn't be surprised to see us trade up there today, but I'm a bit nervous on the long side today, although all time frames looks pretty bullish here. Internals are strong, too.

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

No idea. Or should I rather say I don't have any confidence in any particular play today. My best bet is we'll see some consolidation today. I was long in my real account earlier this morning for a scalp, but currently flat and feeling a bit cautious about this up move. We've got news in 2...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

That's another discussion, but personally, I fail to see the big difference between the two. Sure, NQ may move further and exhibit more momentum at times, but it still does its fair share of back-filling. I'm not making comparisons with last year and now or pre-crash, crash, post-crash. I said...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

I hear you, man. Yesterday was a clear short for me when one of my anticipated scenarios went into play, but I was still nervous and had to sit through some retraces before the market finally started dropping with momentum. Even if the market drops - you typically have to sit through 10-15...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

See attached chart. 2880,50 was the RTH Close from the 10th of March. As such 81,25 was a long term gap fill + 3 ticks and not a random number. 71,75 was just above the 2-Week RTH High at 2871, so not a random number either. So, the numbers may have been randomly chosen by you, but they're...
