SPX trading towards that gap. They don't always fill fully. About 30 points shy. Trend day down.

Who are some LEGIT Retails that "made it"?

I'll post it for the benefit of other readers, then. If you follow/study a loser, you're likely to remain a loser. If you follow/study a winner, you're more likely to become a winner. Even better if you're so lucky to be mentored by a winner. So, the statement that someone else's success or...

Who are some LEGIT Retails that "made it"?

Mostly agree, although it's always nice to hear and know it can be done. Not true. I can explain if it isn't obvious.

Market chop... buy the bottom of the range, sell top of range. Nothing other until range breaks.

Not at all. False breakouts are one of my favorite entries. I'm just saying that your KISS methodology isn't necessarily KISS as it takes skill and experience to be able to discern when S/R holds and not. Rest assured, many players are stopped out multiple times before a reversal or a...

Market chop... buy the bottom of the range, sell top of range. Nothing other until range breaks.

False breakouts are very common with US index futures - particularly ES. You should know if you're trading it actively in present day. I imagine this is partially due to the high degree of competition and multiple strategies being exploited by the various players across multiple timeframes on...

Market chop... buy the bottom of the range, sell top of range. Nothing other until range breaks.

Charts are always crystal clear in hindsight and seemingly KISS. Let's say price arrives at your level - be that a trend line or a horizontal support line. Do you buy or not? Let's say you buy. It snaps down 10 points and you're stopped out. Price then quickly reverses back up to your level...

    ES Journal - 2023/2024

Was about to reverse long, but went short again and just stopped out on a trailing stop on the last spike up. If SPX fills the next gap below there should be about 60 points left to the downside if it happens today. Not a prediction as the data I'm looking at doesn't work that way. As far as...

    ES Journal - 2023/2024

Gap filled on SPX and gap fill buyers showed up. Tricky spot to engage, IMO, as we could easily reverse from here or it could get continuation for a dirty day down. I got stopped out from a short position on this reaction. Waiting for some more clarity now. Possibly the long side if we get...

    ES Journal - 2023/2024

As foretold... Just watching for the next tell, now. Momentum on the daily chart is clearly down, but could be some gap fill buyers lurking down here as SPX fills the gap around 4299. I think we'll get a leg down from here, but will reverse long if we trade back above the Open or so.

    ES Journal - 2023/2024

I think we should take out yesterday's low from here. Watching for continuation or a reversal there. Wrong if we start ripping, although we could see some upside movement first regardless... :)

"Do trendlines work?" + Confluence of support... SP 4200?

For some reason I was not able to upload the current chart (file size too big?).

"Do trendlines work?" + Confluence of support... SP 4200?

September is statistically a weak month in the stock market, so I warned the perma-bulls about this prior to the first trading day in September: ES Journal - 2023/2024 Chart posted on the 4th of September: As of yesterday's Close on the 25th of September, SPX nearly filled the open gap at...

If a trader has six display screens, what are they likely to be looking at?

If you use multiple time frame analysis it's no trouble populating your screen estate. For Mark Minervini which as I understand it is a swing trader, I'm sure he's monitoring many stocks, so I don't imagine he'd have any trouble utilizing six screens. Personally, I day trade ES / NQ and use a...

Who are some LEGIT Retails that "made it"?

That was his first year of trading as he explained how he started out. When we were talking his average clip size was 30 contracts on ES and his maximum was at 50. So, I gather he was doing okay. Meaning?

Who are some LEGIT Retails that "made it"?

Well, while I do have his full name and we spoke together in length, I never saw his broker account, but I honestly have zero reason to not believe him. He was a retail trader, yes, but he had at least 6 years of experience prior to this run. What is it that you find so hard to believe...

Who are some LEGIT Retails that "made it"?

Another guy I spoke with back in 2010 said he funded a 15K account and tripled it in 6 months day trading ES. Then he withdrew half and tripled that the next 6 months. My impression was that he was profitable and honest and I have no reason to not believe him as he wasn't selling anything or...

Who are some LEGIT Retails that "made it"?

I generally don't like to share information from private conversations, but since he's not identified here I assume it would be harmless to deliver some general information. He lives on the east coast and would only trade 90 - 120 minutes prior to his day job. Very early on and while he was...

Who are some LEGIT Retails that "made it"?

Unless you have an extreme edge, I think that's the only way to make super returns. Einar Aas who I referenced earlier blew his entire fortune on one single trade idea. Nothing is known about his actual trading history, but I imagine he's been an extremely aggressive trader and that it worked...

Who are some LEGIT Retails that "made it"?

Let's just say I have information which leads me to believe he may not be that successful as a trader and leave it at that. Feel free to PM me if you're curious. The thing about directional trading is that it's a very marginal business. At least if you day trade. By that, I mean the margin for...

Who are some LEGIT Retails that "made it"?

Not him. Being gullible comes at a cost in the trading business. I don't see many or anyone here denying that success or huge success is possible, but there's no doubt a huge amount of fakers in this business, so it's wise to have some healthy skepticism. Particularly when someone is...
