Other ways I have seen people lose a lot of money is trying to trade eur/usd with usd/jpy, european currencies before the euro. And oil with gold. What I did myself and what works...

    my only decent advice: don't trade correlations unless there is really something fundamental behind them. I know several guys who blew up their account thanks to so called correlations that turned out to be something else. One of them blew 15 million euro for a bank, guess what ? he got fired :D

    most people I know that trade price action just get out at latest about 1 min before the news, it's just not worth the risk and most of the times it's a pure gamble. I know one person that can do what is described above by looking at tick charts to get the move, but that's not for mere mortals...

    you are obviously missing some point: when you have a 10 % dd, you need to make about 11% to be whole again, when you have a 20% dd you need to make 25%, when you have a 40% dd you need to make 67% to break even ...
