I did not know that. Thank you! Does this rule change apply to cash accounts? Day trading in a cash account is generally prohibited. Day trades can occur in a cash account only to the extent the trades do not violate the free-riding prohibition of Federal Reserve Board's Regulation T. In...

BTW, each margin account approved for shorting has 3 accounts. Type1=CASH Type2=Long stock, long and short options Type3=Short stock Most margin accounts move the cash into the margin account. Interesting that they let you trade in account type 1 or 2.

What is the advantage to the customer to choose CASH? If you choose MARGIN, you don't have to wait and a DT is not borrowing. Interesting that they provide a choice. I'm just not aware of any advantage.

That is in a cash account. In a margin account, BP cycles after you DT but only to beginning of day BP.

Correct. Futures/Option are regulated by the rules of the NFA/CFTC and equity/options are regulated by the SEC/FINRA. PDT is a FINRA rule. You can DT all you want in a futures account with under $25,000. Our minimum to start is $25,000, but if your account drops, you can still DT. Bob

Dealing with harsh drawdowns, solutions, advice?

This is general advice, not for your situation in particle. Never hold a position hoping to regain a profit, unless you feel strongly it is a buy right now. Never ignore positions that are material in size. If you can't watch them, set a stop or don't enter the trade. After you make or lose...

Institutional Sales Specialist: Fixed and Variable Cost

20% of all fees charged forever. I do that with CTAs. The worst decision you can make is put a time limit on the allocation fee sharing. What do you think that person will do with your allocation after he's not getting paid anymore?

My order not reflected in the bid?

I'm not Familiar with the choices that IB offers. We have routes that are only dark. Our equity smart routes are to reduce cost and have a fixed price if you take or add. We offer DMA too. You can choose from a large selection of routes with each trade with lightspeed trader. I myself, would...

Opinion: Do you think either of these strategies are worth trading?

This is my process for evaluating a futures strategy: For each $100,000 in an account: Monthly Average returns Daily variations Worst Drawdown % of SPAN Margin requires for DT and Overnight Average yearly RT per $100,000 The above calculated including all costs and fees With that, I can...

Opinion: Do you think either of these strategies are worth trading?

I have a quick question. If I back test $100,000 account and my Profit Factor 1.46, what is my expected profit over the tested period? What is my expected monthly return? How can I calculate that from the numbers above?

My order not reflected in the bid?

I don't know what their equity "SMART" route does. It is my understanding that it does not reside in a dark pool for equities. It is my understanding that their option spreads do.

Opinion: Do you think either of these strategies are worth trading?

I'd say in general, you want to aim for a strategy where you make money more often than you lose money and the average win is larger than the average loss. You also want to back test using worst case. Taking offers and hitting bids so the results are conservative. Don't forget to add variable...

My order not reflected in the bid?

I've seen feeds like that before. Sometime with load balancing, a server get overloaded. Exiting the software and logging back in often solves that as you are assigned to a server with a lower load. I can't tell you that is what happened, but it is one example of what can cause that. The other...

My order not reflected in the bid?

Their smart routing is normally not a dark pool for equities. The only thing I can think of is that you had a frozen data feed and you were looking at old markets. Try sending in a ticket with the times and ask them to look into it.

Software better than TOS for options?? is LiveVol good?

We just took over ownership of LVX. It will take some time for our team to go though the LVX code. Once we do that, we will have the ability to improve software that has not been updated in years. In the mean time, it is very stable and does many things around option vol that no other software does.

I would think a strong stock in a down tape is worth a look. I like those myself.
