Milton Friedman Puts A Young (and skinny) Michael Moore In His Place

Not so much, his peers supported his position. OTOH he did defend well, especailly given his poor position at the onset.More kudos would be available if he were opposing popular opinion in the auditorium.

The weekly: Greece to default/restructure THIS weekend? thread

WTF?! Widened? As in, got worse? WTF?! We keep hearing about their terrible gut wrenching austerity yet they cannot even toe the line - they have to spend more than ever? That's like saying you are on a diet yet you set new records for beer and deep dish pizza consumption. "Well, I was...

    Marriage, just don't

Good grief. Stop watching chick flicks, put down the romance novels and learn to be a man. Used to be that boys learned to shoot Old Yeller. Guess they don't anymore. And secondly, any woman that thinks her man is incapable of leaving loses every shred of respect she ever had for him.

ECB buying "aggressively" short term 2yr and 10yr Italian government bonds- traders

That's what I thought. But sooner or later they'll face a choice - try to plug the dyke or stand back and watch it fall. I can't help but think they'll make a too feeble attempt - maybe it'll make for a spectacular failure.

This calls for immediate action! Meetings must be called, announcement of agreements made! We need LOTS of empty posturing and other posturing that is full of it! Only a slue of meaningless gestures will save us from the dark days ahead!

    Why Capitalism Is Failing

Nope. If one must ascribe something like this to capitalism, then one would be closer to truth to say capitalism is based on the idea of scarce resources, not unlimited. Capitalism tries to allocate resources in the most efficient manner possible as determined by the free market.

    Democracy ending

This is another one of those quotes bandied about and (falsely) attributed to a number of people. As an aside, how come everyone picks ol' Ben to hang all these on? http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Alexander_Fraser_Tytler Another section is occasionally added: that is also attributed to many.

China to Europe: You are just too damn lazy.

It's the Peter Principle. You do a good job, so you get promoted. You do a good job again and get promoted again. So on and so on until you do a crappy job. No more promotions for you!
