    When Indicators Don't Lag

I agree with following the larger turns and not overcommitting. I just don't see what indicators have to do with it. If somebody were following oil and wanted to buy via PA, he'd have bought the double bottom and subsequent rejection at 44 (the MACD would have been no help there). Buying at 50...

    When Indicators Don't Lag

A very "flexible" way of trading the MACD.

    When Indicators Don't Lag

They are now. But if price doesn't continue its present course, the MACD will no longer show a divergence. As I said, going long at the break of the line I suggested would carry no additional risk. But it's up to you.

    When Indicators Don't Lag

You're anticipating a divergence. The histogram isn't divergent, and the MACD lines have not crossed. If price does not continue on its present course, the lines won't cross and the signal will have disappeared. If you're going to anticipate in this fashion, why not just draw a straight line...

    When Indicators Don't Lag

By "ahead of time" I mean posting a chart of the MACD divergence in advance so that those who are interested are able to take advantage of the divergence rather than wish afterward that they had known of it beforehand. And I don't do patterns. Sorry.

    When Indicators Don't Lag

All indicators follow price. That's why they lag. Now if you were to post something like this ahead of time . . .

    When Indicators Don't Lag

Testing was anathema. But that's been pretty much the case with every beginner and struggling trader I've encountered over the past 17 years. Those who are doing it for fun, of course, see no need to go through all that. But to go on for fourteen years trying to find a winning strategy with...

    When Indicators Don't Lag

This is not unprecedented. I was looking at the results of someone's automated system the other day, something he'd spent considerable time and effort putting together and of which he was quite proud. Only problem was that his results weren't much better than what I get from my savings account...

    The Trouble With Scribbles

The conclusion is that you don't realize this is a weekly trend channel, which is why the lines occur where they do. The trendlines and resulting channel are drawn exactly as they should be. Which is the chief difficulty with your approach: it's all in hindsight. Show somebody how all this...

    When Indicators Don't Lag

I knew a guy at TL who'd spent nine years "forward testing" his system and had not by the time he gave up been able to do more than break even.
