If I own closed end funds in an IB account...

I would like to buy some MLPs (royalty trusts as well), but HATE having to get all those K-1s at year end and deal with those on my tax return. I believe if I buy closed end funds that own these, rather than get K-1s (or those royalty trust information returns), I will just get a 1099 from...

Alternative/best way to short bonds (Treasuries)?

What are some of the best way to short U.S. Treasuries? I assume Treasury futures, options? Any good ETFs out there? Tying to compile a list so I can research everything out there for this purpose. Thanks!

    Thoughts on this? Thanks!

So I got this email from a "wealth advisory firm"...

Here is the bulk of it: I wanted to share something you are not aware of and that is not being presented to you. The #1 strategy I am using for clients provides for no income tax due for 5 years and is taxed at a capital gains tax rate at the end of 5 years. It protects your investments from...

Screenshot from IB - margin interest on shorts (longs?)

Understood. Its just its weird that people would pay that much to short the stock of NKLA (almost 1000% a year!!!), when there doesn't appear anything immanent happening with the stock. Heck its been doing relatively over the past 12 months (although worse recently). But that interest rate to...

We are talking about IB of course - I'm not getting the joke Atikon?

Screenshot from IB - margin interest on shorts (longs?)

Thanks a ton Metamega! Ah, that makes sense that the "rebate rate" is split 50/50 with IB. And my GAWD that NKLA rebate rate from post 17 - it is 960% plus - why on Earth would it be so high for a stock that is not in a freefall? Even splitting it 50% with IB, you are still getting close to...

Screenshot from IB - margin interest on shorts (longs?)

Take a look at the picture below I took from my IB account. This from the margin rates screen. So, this is from SGLB (which I have a tiny, tiny amount shorted). Is this saying I'm paying 61.25% a YEAR to keep it shorted? Insane if so. And the rebate percentage of -61.42% - is that saying I...

UGLD USLV DGLD DSLV UGAZ DGAZ ZIV VIIX TVIX soon to be delisted

Yes, just like the price of pretty much ANYTHING can do anything. My point is as long as the market makers can create new shares up until the 7/2 delisting then there is less worry about the ETN going way above its intrinsic value - the market makers would see the profit and create new shares...

UGLD USLV DGLD DSLV UGAZ DGAZ ZIV VIIX TVIX soon to be delisted

Yep, July 2nd guru. As long as they are letting people create new units until then, I see no reason it should deviate too too substantially from its intrensic price - market makers could stop in. I think anyways lol.

UGLD USLV DGLD DSLV UGAZ DGAZ ZIV VIIX TVIX soon to be delisted

Thanks guru, it looks like new share creation for TVIX is not being stopped until early January. I would guess that its after that time when it should swing most erratically. Looks like there might be some process where you can have you shares redeemed at I would assume NAV (or whatever the...

UGLD USLV DGLD DSLV UGAZ DGAZ ZIV VIIX TVIX soon to be delisted

So, I actually have some TVIX shorted. Do I need to buy to cover? Or can I wait and just "cash out" my short at the end for its imputed value? I don't want to end up with a situation where I have a short and someone out there calls it then I have to go into the market and find a long to...

Can anyone compete with IBs margin rates?

And I look at SPY. It says the fee rate is .25%, I take it annually. But the rebate rate is 1.08%? Does that mean one would get 1.08% to let someone short their stock, but the person that shorts it would only have to pay .25% annually? That really does not make sense to me...

Can anyone compete with IBs margin rates?

So, if I go into Toolbox in my IB platform, click on SLB Rates, it asks me for a ticker. I type in PTON (Peleton). It says the fee rate is like 61% and the rebate rate is like 59.75%. So is that an annual rate I'd have to pay to SHORT Peleton, or an annual rate I would received if I held...

Can anyone compete with IBs margin rates?

Haha I did, seems that the answer is that the rate charged can depend on the underlying! Anyone know where I can find the particular IB page that talks about this? Not finding it immediately doing a google or IB search. Thanks!!!
