    Ratio Spreads

Sure that can work. You are selling vol when they expand, but keep in mind that you don't have to hold that position until expiration. You can close it or add to it as the market moves and prices change.

    Ratio Spreads

I did ratio spreads a lot when I was trading full time. But I did it with a purpose. A good example was GLD. At that time, the OTM calls were skewed much higher than the ATM calls and OTM puts. GLD was trending up and there was a large demand for OTM calls. I felt this skew was wrong. So I would...

    Ratio Spreads

IMO, you are doing this backwards. These spreads work well when vol skews change or you have a thesis on where a stock or index will or will not trade over a time period. Just looking to enter a ratio spread randomly might not give you the result you want. Bob

    Systematic option trading platform

As an option MM I used Actant Quote. As a "customer" to can use Actant Exstream. It uses scripting to execute your strategy. Are you trading equity options or options on futures? For options on futures, Option City is worth a look. http://www.actant.com/ http://www.optionscity.com/ Bob

Chances of stock price hitting strike price

I'm not sure if this answers your question, but in general, the delta of an options is the percentage chance of it being in the money at expirations. eg .10 delta, 10%.

IPO First Trading Day Question for the Expierenced Traders Here

1-The stock will open when the NASDAQ or NYSE says they are ready to pair off orders. No set time. 2-Yes, enter an order at anytime before it opens that day. I would not recommend market orders.

All the SPX options trade until 3:15 pm ct. The PM settled options on expiration day, stop trading at 3 pm ct because they settle at the close. The am settled options stop trading the day before at 3:15 pm ct, but settle based on the friday morning opening.

SPX would be a little more levered than ES because ES is 50X the index and SPX is 100X.

dedicated server hosting close to CME area

Rithmic has their own IT hosting. If you are using their API, this will save you money as their hosting is competitive. I had one client use them with no complaints.

Add equity to beaten-down prop acct, or start fresh somewhere else?

You deposited $25K in a registered US Prop firm. That money is tied up for 1 year. If you add more funds, that money will be tied up for a full year. I don't believe you can go anywhere else until that year is up, or your will be dually registered, which should be an issue for both firms. I'm...

Spencer, Can you elaborate on your concerns? What are you looking for in a "retail" broker that would meet your needs. IMO, you don't have to be concerned with a firm's offices. I would focus on your requirements that help you trade or run a business around trading. Send me a PM or email if you...

    Unusual Option Activity

It is my understanding that optionMonster (Najarian brothers) base most of their trading on option flow like you are suggesting. They like to follow the "hot money". I have no experiance with that type of trading, since as an x-market maker, I was always the other side of hot money. As long as...
