    Transition to Futures

Neet - coming from stocks and options myself initially and moving to futures, here is what I would be prepared for: 1) Much quicker 'action'. 2) Leverage available for very little $$$. 3) I think it's easier to focus on just a couple markets vs. a ton of socks. 4) Very easy to hit the...

Question about the computer to buy

Well said Tums. If you are serious and treat this as a business, you will listen to Tum's post. If you treat it like a hobby, it will pay you like a hobby.

    Need Series 7 tutor

Arnie - while it may not have taken you near 100 hours, that is a fairly accurate statement that 100+ hours is 'normal'. So, for the OP or another newbie reading this, plan to study and study hard. Better to study hard once and pass, then restudy trying to pass the test over and over again...

Where to buy a 4 monitor Set up

Most computers that are prebuilt that you buy at Best Buy are not going to support 4 monitors right out of the box. Depending on the computer you purchase, you may be able to upgrade it to do so. This is an important question to ask if you need 4 monitors. As for stands, there are a number...

Do you use Martingale position sizing?

Sounds great in theory!! That is until you have multiple losses in a row and can no longer double up. For example - let's say you trade counter-trend and get caught many, many times in a strong trend. After a day of consecutive losses like that and doubling up each one, you may not be able to...

    Easy Language references

Anyone have websites, books, etc that they would recommend for Easy Language support of TradeStation? I've got the free stuff they provide on their website, just looking for other info out there. Thanks!

this has got to be a blow off top

I think the key right now is if the 'dumb' money continues to flow into stocks and mutual funds. Here is what I mean - when I was a stockbroker/adviser, right about now is when my phone would start ringing with unsolicited orders. People don't like buying when things are down, they want to see...

    Anyone been a Futures Broker?

Not true at all rosy. The demand for advice is huge out there. I realize this is a traders forum, but we are a minority in the grand scheme of things. There are many people out there that want and need advice and as a result, brokerages will always be there and be very profitable.

    ES Journal Archive (2006 - 2008)

OK, so you have ONE example. Great. Let me go find one where staying in the longer trend all day makes a boat load of money. You are missing the point - there are many, many ways to trade. To call someone 'foolish' is just ignorant. Get it?

    ES Journal Archive (2006 - 2008)

In your opinion, this is inferior. To others that are looking to take more out of bigger moves, that is foolish. That's what great about trading... your opinion is yours and mine is mine. Whatever works for you, works for you and vice versa. Good trading buy1!

Can someone explain the Oil vs Indexes correlation?

There is not always going to be a direct correlation, so keep that in mind. Right now there might be a correlation, but it will not last long, so be prepared for the correlation to eventually fail.

Dow Mini vs. emini S&P - which one???

    1. Completely stupid question, please bear with me: Do the moves in the futures contracts mirror the indexes or do the indexes mirror the futures? In other words, which moves first, for example: the ES or the actual s&p 500? A: Unfortunately there is not a perfect science here. If there was...

    short sale of bonds

Bit - as a broker that used to sell them, I would say make sure you do your homework first. In other words, some are very, very liquid and others you will take a big hit trying to sell later. And you have to look at each individual issue, not just who is issuing them. Example - GMAC issued alot...

    Eurex symbols on TradeStation

The TS Eurex data is fine. I don't have my TS up right now, but the symbols were very easy to find. You do have to 'turn them on' though, so that may be part of the problem if you didn't pay for them yet.

Dow Mini vs. emini S&P - which one???

If I had to pick just one, probably would choose the NQ. But, as Mark said, you need to see what fits your trading style. Maybe the EC (Euro FX) is actually best for you. Just have to look at all of them and narrow it down from there. Good luck!

Scalping ES, ER, NQ, YM, SP, etc.

I think sideways movements are the most difficult to trade, but that is me. Other guys probably make a killing during these times. The ultimate question really is - how will you define when it has entered the sideways zone and when has it left... I think that is the biggest question.

Need opinions on new flat panel monitor (19"+)

Samsungs are very nice monitors. Not sure that they are within the price range, but when it comes to screens that I am going to be watching all day, I want clear, crisp graphics which in turn means spending a few bucks on quality.
