    Better to Predict...or React?

Better to Predict...or React? It is better to predict than react. (This reminds me of Machiavelli's chapter, 'Whether it is it better to be feared than loved?') Any intervention in the market, whether a buy or a sell entry, is a prediction to close it out at a profit. It is simply that you...

1 more month and it's over!!!!

Well, it is amazing to think Christmas and New Year are now so close. But index futures are there for everyone and their gyrations daily offer rich potential for the last few weeks of 2005 and for all of 2006. So bottom line, here is my message to players: optimism! :)

    Checklist for Success..No.1

Exactly .. and if you don't know what you are doing, especially as no one knows what zia zmostatabi's mystery plan says, then all the belief, conviction, confidence and hubris in the world will end up thoroughly flushed down the lavatory bowl.

    Fat Tails

Then there was the fat woman who wanted 12 inches straight away from an Irishman, Paddy, whom she'd just met. Paddy said he couldn't manage that but he could give her 6 inches twice .. instead. Oops .. send this thread straight to chit chat. :)

    Checklist for Success..No.1

zmostatabi and your little gems of trading. Belief, conviction, confidence and visualization are all very well but they're not going to get you there, pal. If you don't know the questions you need to answer and you have not worked on and worked out the answers, you are not even at the...

more you want it - lesser of your chances

If there are those who encourage any and every poor dumb limp dick who comes along to take up trading or become a trader you are doing him HURT and HARM and not helping that person in the least. It makes me wonder how many here know anything about effective money making trading. Trading is...

more you want it - lesser of your chances

Ok ok, I shall be more cheerful. I noticed that WAWATU31 wants to own one of the "hoses in South Beach" which brings me to story of the Spanish fireman who had two sons. He called his first son Jose And he named the second one Hose B. :)

    Mental Training Session Title:

zmostatabi, nothing wrong with this stuff. It may help you color in your dreamscape. But bottom line, each newbie or wannabe has to find the relevant technical questions that each one of you needs to answer and then work out the answers for trading success. And thats quite apart from whether...

more you want it - lesser of your chances

The 'more you want it' is a completely rogue emotion. It crashes everything. Anyone with that problem should train themselves out of it .. pronto. But the key disrupting emotion is the 'don't know' emotion. It is a constant companion of fear, dread, anxiety or all the other mixes of...

    Why gaps

Well really there isn't a gap when a market has around the clock live price quotation. Gap is usually the term which gives the difference between the official EOD price and the price at the official market Open the next day or next trading day. :)

POLL - Futures: How do you determine the trend?

    Agree. Correct. :)

How much out of sample testing is enough?

This is an interesting question. I would suggest not less than the last 12 months to date. You may well need to apply the last 2 or 3 years. But raw data for any one market will not yield a reliable or playable result for predictive purposes. Of course it is entirely up to you. :)

    Volume on trends

This is for aficionados of volume. Is volume a function of price or is price a function of volume? :)

    the mathematics of persistence

I liked this piece. It is a reminder of the sheer power one individual can work at achieving and harnessing. Here is an addition. You can tell people you have more than enough power to use every day. You say," I can choose to act or not to act". :)
