    Starting a Hedge Fund

That's what I thought your math would look like. Thanks Don.

    Starting a Hedge Fund

Are you saying Don would let his "hedge fund customers" lose his money for free? I'd like to see the math posted for a few mil from clients at 25% a year vs. Don giving someone a free few mil a year with the same results. Would someone be better off going with Don or on their own? Don...

    Expiry - the practicalities

By allowing exercise, you capture the spread that would have been lost by buying back. You generally get assigned for free depending on the broker, so there may not be a cost to acquire/short the underlying. Your answer really depends on what you want to do with the underlying and why you...

    Starting a Hedge Fund

I for one think Don should be given a Nobel Prize for coming on ET and giving all you hedge fund wannabes an AUTOMATIC FREE 80% RETURN ON YOUR MONEY - out of the goodness of his heart. The man, the myth...words cannot express my gratitude. We are truly blessed.

    AVG daily S&P range

Using the 3% range movement as an example, you need to switch gears when you see it within X number of days. Have a method for trading high volatility, and a method for low volatility, then maybe one for medium. Maybe use a 20 day trailing range percentage... That's overly simplistic, but...

    XPOs: the next big thing?

I did some reading and came to the conclusion that they might be near worthless. The tracking against the underlying, compared with the relationship and similarity to SSFs gives them little utility. Let me know if you find otherwise from your reading. I am always anxious to throw a new...

    Problems with IB option quotes

Mine are fine. Check your route, etc... Make sure you are on "smart" and not the Bismarck Options Exchange or something out that way. For example, CME pit options have no quotes from IB during the day if you select Globex. Globex quotes are overnight only. Good Luck.

    AVG daily S&P range

I track this stuff very closely. The last 3% range day on the SPX was last March. There were periods during the 90s were a 3% range day happened once a year, then they were common for a few years, now back to calmer times. I believe it has more to do with larger factors than Bush or...

    Butterflies and Condors vs IB

For equity and index options, I believe you will need margin for both sides. If you are using futures options (ES), those are subject to SPAN and only one side is required.

    Taser . . .

My Qcharts screen says it's on the UPC list. If so, it is not shortable by regulation, nothing to do with the broker. The UPC list is published daily.

    YM options

Any idea when that will be. I see futures offered on the IB site, but the only futures opts were on the 30yr. Are the YM futures options traded electronically? I would trade the YM futures options if IB offered them....would be a nice hedge for my SPX stuff.

How is IB doing this year?

"Billions dollars of bonus"? "Some one please give suggestions " I'm beginning to think you and "nomoreoptions" are the same guy. Here's a suggestion. Pull yourself together.

Are You Missing the Pending Page on TWS? I am... duh

There is usually a prior version or two on the IB site. I keep my old cab files and rename them with the ver # when I download them. That way, if I need to go back I can just run an "old" update.

    CTA Startup

Check out IASG.com and Autumngold.com. I've seen funds there with less than 50K and no investors. I'm not sure what definitive requirements they may have. What are the regulations and/or relevant regulatory body when it comes to trading options on futures? Let's say that one's fund was...
