    IB and computer security

Dude, you need to get one of those security cards they provide. It provides a second level of login that isn't useful to an eavesdropper.

    Rule of 10 Journal

Hey volente, didn't you mention a "rule of 20" in the YM journal back in the day?

is there any cycle in volatility?

Duh. Volatility decreases every summer. Volatility increases during earnings season. Volatility increases during Xmas retail season.

Have you ever introduced yourself as an speculaor?

I tell people I'm an engineer; always good for a few knowing smirks and eye-rolls.

    Double Diagonals V's Double Calendars

I may not have fully grokked where the thread was going, but if you have to choose calls versus puts for an ATM calendar, puts usually give the best risk/reward.

    Double Diagonals V's Double Calendars

I respectfully disagree with you regarding calls versus puts on calendars. While *in theory* they're the same, in practice they're not. You can usually get a better risk/reward on put calendars than call. This is due to higher IV.

    Why is Increasenow still struggling

LOL I told a guy in the office to buy AAPL at $118 back in March. He's always smirking at me when I talk about support and resistance and Fibonacci levels. Anyway, the bastard bought 200 shares and he was up almost $15000 at one point. Now he's back asking what else to buy. But did I buy...

volatility confusion between ib and ivolatility

I have looked and looked for the configuration to change the IV display from daily to annualized. What version of TWS are you using? I'm running the latest (885.7) and can't find the menu selections you listed. ***Later*** I looked harder this time and found it under...

    Are fund segregated at IB?

Statistically, complainer-type personalities are more likely to post than commending-type personalities. There's useful information at ET, but you have to sift through it with a critical eye. A large fraction of ET posters use IB; that speaks for itself.

    Arbing historical vol against implied

It's not arbing. You're just looking for options to buy that are "cheap" in the sense that their IV is less than their SV. If you're long IV, you want to lessen the chances that IV will go lower. You want it to increase after you go long. I look for options where the IV/SV ratio is < 1.0...

What exactly do you mean by "reading price action"

Strictly speaking, yes. The main difference is that trendlines and support/resistance levels aren't lagging. They aren't smoothed or averaged. They capture places where price changed direction and the market *does* have a memory. I suddenly have to urge to play "I Wanna Kill James Taylor"...

What exactly do you mean by "reading price action"

Here's my $0.02 for what it's worth. Reading price action refers to watching price itself, rather than its derivatives. This means no oscillators, indicators, moving averages etc. Price action readers would annotate charts with support/resistance lines and trendlines. Candlestick...

    Trading internationally...if the US crumbles

Hadn't we already figured out in another thread that the US is too big to actually "collapse"? The US *still* has a vast supply of human and natural resources that other countries don't have. I theorize that the US will "collapse" more like the way the UK did. The US empire will contract...
