BAR BY BAR -- Al Brooks

The PC technology, networking and software back in 1987 did not support "tick chart" back in 1987, I don't believe. But I interpreted that sentence as someone reading the "time and sales" report (or the tape) tick-by-tick. Or that is just a general expression (though a bit exaggerated)...

    Buying Dell Precision T3400, questions

The price caught my eyes. I checked and the page said the total is $1793. Was there an error when you accessed that page? Because I cannot believe a PC sells more than a new mid-range luxury car.

    I am done with trading.

But you have said that before (and not that long ago): OK, I quit, enough is enough, no more trading! http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=186377 1. What made you come back? 2. Why would we believe that you will quit for real this time around? See you in 2 months.

    In Finding a Mentor

That's the whole issue, isn't it? How many people can you find to teach you to brew a cup of coffee? No brainer, right? How many people can you find to teach you how to play tennis? Fewer, but still plenty. Now how many people can you find to teach you how to play really good tennis...

    In Finding a Mentor

There are some mentoring services provided by trading schools including OTA and Pristine. They charge thousands of dollars for mentoring. You know what the biggest problem with mentoring is? Your mentor will show you/teach you the way he/she trades, not the way you want to trade. Unlike...

You know what blows me away about being a discretionary trader? How one slip....

    Fading an unsuccessful strategy?

From your description: if you solely trade based on news, that's a sure way to the poorhouse I think. Did I miss something? Is your "strategy" an automated strategy or discretionary? What you may want to do is to step back and look at each trade for clues. Don't just look at the...

    Pictures of your trading stations

So in order to use 21 monitors, you must have something like this. Is that it? http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=720369

    Pictures of your trading stations

I use 2 types: PNY and EVGA (different models, 6200, 9400GT, etc.)

Excuse me for not meeting your neatness standard or seeking your approval. At least I am not pretending to be a big shot with no contribution to discussions but only criticisms.

    Pictures of your trading stations

Because I like them. Have you asked why Jay Leno has more than one hundred cars? Or why Imelda Marcos has three thousand pairs of shoes? Or why Lindsey Buckingham has so many guitars?

    Pictures of your trading stations

I only trade a few stocks. AAPL and GS mostly. Occassionally others (e.g. AMZN GOOG etc.). What kind of return I am generating? Does it matter? I live with my parents in the basement and troll the Internet all day pretending I am a trader. I just feel like spending some of my allowances.

    Adding a third monitor

Show this to your wife. That would take care of the second issue. LOL. :p From my experience I found that mixing video cards on a the same box is asking for trouble. I would not even want to count on the built-in video out on the box when adding PCI video cards. My old setup...

Any recommended book for day trading beginner?

Not sure if you are new to trading, or have been trading for a while but now want to get into day trading. If you are new to trading, and you are thinking about starting with day trading, my advice is: Don't do it. Day trading is probably the hardest form/style of trading. It takes a lot...

    Some more Help Please

Hey RN: The Easy Language is not all that hard to learn. But this comment is from me, someone who has extensive computer programming background. Yet to program in EL it should be fairly straight forward. But here is what I don't like about automated trading using TradeStation. Like you...

Why brokers are tough to cash accounts ?

I don't think the OP was talking about the Day Trading margin rule. You trade stocks in a cash account (or 401K, IRA). It is subjected to the T+3 days for settlement. This is from the old days. It used to be T+5 days. There are people who do not hold stocks in street names and they demand...

    lcd monitors and stand question

My opinion: Most LCD monitors come with their own stands. Since you have only 2 monitors, why not just let them stand on their own? Why spend extra money, for what gain? Maybe it's only a "neat" factor. Some multi-monitor stands are more expensive than the monitors themselves.

    Take the Index Piker Challenge

Sorry I think you may want to re-think that. A drawdown of 99% is very relevant. It means you are out of the game. No you are not out of time, you are out of capital eventhough you may have 100 years to sit it out.

The largest single trading floor in the world

This is so great! This is so impressive! Thousands of traders come under the same roof to work together. So they can ignore each other.
