Charles Schwab in talks to buy TD Ameritrade, deal could be announced as early as today

I agree. However, currently I believe Charles Schwab within the European Economic Area (EEA) only accepts new accounts from residents of Germany, UK, Spain and Switzerland. Hopefully that will change.

Can LLCs trade with less restrictions than individuals?

I contacted Fidelity recently and asked if a US corporation owned by an EU citizen could open an account at Fidelity. Unfortunately, I didn't get a clear answer.

Why do most US brokerages not accept EU clients?

I have been with IBKR since the beginning of time and I am very satisfied. I'm just curious why the brokers listed above would let IBKR have those 512 million potential clients more or less to itself.

Why do most US brokerages not accept EU clients?

Surely, trading US listed ETFs constitute only a small part of the profit potential? "Overseas customers are more difficult to accurately identify, and monitor." Yes, but again, hardly an argument to give up 512 million potential clients in a developed market?

    Broker suggestions for EU citizen

No. That is not the case at Interactive Brokers or Saxo. They hedge the position by opening a similar position in the underlying.

Tax-favorable countries: 0% on cap gains WITHOUT a 'professional' bucket taxing CGs as normal income

Sweden. 5% effective tax on passive investment. 30% capital gains tax on active trading. There is no distinction between capital gains and business. Trading as a person is taxed at a 30% capital gains rate - never as business income. Now, depending on how much you earn from passive...

    IRS is getting desperate......

Unless Lucy's brother also finds Lucy to be a real pain in the ass... in which case she really gotta go. Yes, it will be a free market like in the good old days of the Wild West.

    IRS is getting desperate......

In some murder cases of today the law doesn't factor into it at all. However, if there was no law against killing people, I am absolutely 100% sure there would be more people killed that there are today. If you could just go out on a random Friday night killing herds of annoying people without...

    IRS is getting desperate......

No. Enforcing murder laws prevents other murders from happening and there is no reason to believe the administrative costs of enforcing murder laws are excessive. You are happy to spend administrative costs of 2.000 times the tax revenue it generates just because the intention is noble. That is...

    Deutschland Finanztransaktionssteuer

I agree. The EU FTT currently on the table is similar to the current French FTT in that it only applies to local stocks - not foreign stocks and not derivativces. I do trade French stocks from time to time in the form of CFDs. No problem. In the future? The prospect of a US FTT is very...

    IRS is getting desperate......

It has been estimated that the administrative costs of FATCA corresponds to 2.000 times the tax revenue it generates. The biggest threat facing the world is not climate change or nuclear arms race. It is bad shit crazy spreading bureaucracy.

    Free ETFs at Interactive Brokers?

I do not mean this with any disrespect, but is English your second language? Again, no disrespect. English is not my first language. What the box says: There are no algos and only a limited number of order types. What you can read elsewhere then is that these limited number of order types of...

Where do you see that limit order type is not available? I do not see that and I do not believe that is the case.

    Account manager at IB

The more accurate metric would be how much revenue the client generates for IB - not the amount of capital in the account. And nothing wrong with that.

    How to bankrupt Robinhood

May I suggest you show your wife and her sister this: "Why are high-frequency trading firms willing to pay over 10 times as much for Robinhood orders than they are for orders from other brokerages?"...
