job market is grim, particularly if u r 50+

You're right, it shouldn't be. If you use your own vehicle you pay commercial insurance rates. Liability insurance. File sales tax return, payroll, assorted bs accounting procedures you may or may not pay an accountant. The list is endless, you could end up with a pretty high fixed...

job market is grim, particularly if u r 50+

Hate to break the news to ya, but I started a commercial and residential cleaning service back in 1990 and was charging $35 an hour and getting it. If found anyone cleaning houses for $10 an hour as an independent (and they were any good) I would hire them in a minute. I wonder what the...

A social networking dot com worth $50,000,000,000????

I never heard of Groupon either till the other day. Life is turning into one big arcade game. So full of nonsense and timewasters, shopping is a skil set in todays world. Back in the day, this is the price, take it or leave it. Every company today wants to be an airline pricing machine.

I think John McCain said it first, this is going way back.....probably during his campaign. Most outgoing politicians exhibit some form of catharsis, I suppose to let us know they are "real" and deep down "good" people. Fuck 'em.

Hahaha, this chaos is going exactly as planned. State pensions and property taxes

I'd read a study regarding the old saying. The strong will survive, the smart will survive. The study concluded that those most responsive and adapt to change survive. Holding on to the way it used to be or the way it was (esp as reported in the media, using comparisons, etc) doesn't...

Most Americans say tax the rich to balance budget

I think we tried that back in the 30's, laying off gov't employees, this didn't work. Evenetually everyone hired back to work by the Fed, CCC etc. The poison is the cure. Of course this brings us to round 2, state budget cuts coming up this year with layoffs. This shit feeds on itself.

Most Americans say tax the rich to balance budget

I conducted a random poll of 1.067 adults who made 50k a year. I asked them if they went to lunch with a friend who made a 1 million a year, should the wealthier friend pay for lunch. Everyone said "Yes" because they can afford it. Stay tuned....

Free markets become fascism as the line between the private and public sector fades.

There are many examples of the lines blurring between the decision makers in the public and private sector. ----------------------- No doubt. Ceo's to use your example of Paulson and Cheney can wield the same influence whether they remain in the private sector or take a gov't job. Thye...
