All the really good directional traders I know follow a similar approach..Canslim,Modified Canslim,Momentum....Some apply basic fundamental metrics,some don't.... If you look on AAII website or use Portfolio 123 to backtest you will see that there is merit to growth/momo style investing

Last 20 includes some very bad timing as it started with the dot com crash..But that's a good objective starting point..Regardless,it certainly outperformed inflation..

Not really following your logic.The market has significantly outperformed inflation(assume 3 % inflation) Lets say we,go with Goldman's historical return.Long term investors have earned apx 700 to 1000 basis points after inflation. I don't doubt your success,but I sincerely doubt the success...

While it is entirely possible the same patterns repeat,that tidbit of info has no bearing on whether markets change...or not..Think about it... On a macro level,the,markets go up,go down,or stay the same.Duration and volatility vary.The argument that the events have been observed before does...

If nothing else it should make intuitive sense.. Obviously if you are long gamma,you would like to pay "low rent",and if short gamma you want to charge a boatload.. Low rent = low theta/high gamma High rent= high theta/low gamma

Since 94,the Normalised 14 Day ATR on the SPY has ranged from apx .4 Percent to 3.4%.There have been 2 vicious spikes where the NATR got up to close to 8 percent.(08 and 20)..There are definetly periods of 4-6 years with significantly less/more volatility

When I first broke in to trading brokers would offer reversals/conversions for 1-3 dollar credits.Risk free,on a 1000 lot,you could make between 100 and 300k..I would turn down trades to make 50k... Now,you are lucky to leg it for 5000 dollars....
