Fading Yen - It has gone parabolic

Sometimes I get a feeling that posting anything here is a waste of my time - especially any real time trades. There are just so many people who comment without reading carefully.

Fading Yen - It has gone parabolic

holycrap. what a confusion. We are talking about a trade that happened 3yrs ago when i had a boss. Now I don't have any boss.

Fading Yen - It has gone parabolic

You took the easy way out and said these constraints don't make sense. You also don't agree with the basic premise of the trade in the first place by giving it 10 figure room. But my question was how you will structure this trade given these conditions/constraints that desk imposed on any macro...

Fading Yen - It has gone parabolic

Well let me try once again! We lost 70% of our allowed risk. Macro trades do go wrong from time to time and when a desk takes a position, everyone understands they are taking a risk. So, where is the question of whole desk getting fired arise??? Honestly, I find it comical. Fyi, the total loss...

What are some good books on intraday momentum analysis?

I doubt you will find good relevant information in any book. I could be wrong though. Compared to weeklies or dailies, intraday trading allows limited liquidity. So, any good discovery or market truth on an intraday basis is typically well guarded.

    $20mm seed capital trading tournament

Thanks Pekelo for finding the link for me :) I read the article and found it slightly funny. I didn't find it odd that bank guy didn't inform compliance. I found it truly odd that they inserted people into competition without their knowledge. Funny. Reading through their website, its not...

Fading Yen - It has gone parabolic

I would do that if longer term (6 months down the line), I expect usdjpy to be above 96. Longer term (6 months), I expect usdjpy to be below 96, and this is the sole reason I don't go long here. A big reason why this position doesn't worry me much and I can sleep nicely is that I am short...

Fading Yen - It has gone parabolic

Well, again I don't trade this way normally at all. Here, I was trying to fade a parabola, the parabola did not collapse as I had thought it would. So, my initial assessment was wrong. I have 2 choices now - cut out the trade straight at loss X or try to do some opportunistic trades get out...

Fading Yen - It has gone parabolic

Well, I am not sure you are giving a fair assessment here. I added 2.5% risk at 96.5 and booked profits on it at 95.5. This was not in the original plan! Couple other times also, I added some risk and booked profits on them along the way. My point is - I have deviated slightly from the...

Fading Yen - It has gone parabolic

Well, I have already admitted that this trade has not worked as planned, and I have said that countless times. So, I am not sure you are giving me any new information. At this stage, I am just trying to get out of this losing position in the best possible way.

Fading Yen - It has gone parabolic

    a) I am sorry to say but you did not learn anything new because you have a closed mindset and too large of an ego. I already clearly mentioned this trade was a trade done typically in a prop desk, not your typical vol trader desk. b) I agree you must have made tons more money than I have but...

Fading Yen - It has gone parabolic

Currently, I still have following risk: 1% risk from average price of 93.25 (0.25% risk at 92.5, 93, 93.5 and 94). 1% risk from 93.5 that I added. So, MTM PL with usdjpy at 96 is -(2.75%+2.5%) = -5.25%. And total booked PL = -3.82%.

Fading Yen - It has gone parabolic

    I had 0.25% risk from each 90, 90.25, 90.5, 90.75, 91, 91.25, 91.5, 91.75 and 92, for a total of 2.25% risk at an average price of 91. I have covered this 2.25% risk at 96 for a loss of 11.25%. So, total booked PL = 7.43% - 11.25% = -3.82%. So, I have now cut the original trade risk by...

    Unofficial TWS bug thread

Bob, its both hilarious and disappointing to read the bugs that you find and report here. Really, it makes no sense that default settings don't get saved. Although, IB has a great product overall but QA sucks. IB Management - In my professional opinion, you should hire Bob for QA. No one...

Fading Yen - It has gone parabolic

Just having a good discussion with you. So, your appeal will not be fruitless. I don't trade like this normally. This is very out of the regular, very experimental trade for me.
