    ES Journal - 2012

Satchel, please continue posting. You have been on this site for 7 years now, and as you said yourself - you have a lot of back and forth talk. Trvl is a great guy just as you are. Its just that today - there was some not so pleasant exchanges between you two guys. Think like you and him are...

Thanks for comment Josh! ES was very strong till that little pullback from 1278 to 1276. I was thinking about waiting for a deeper pullback, and in normal days would have waited for it, but given tomorrow's payroll numbers, I figured if they are really expecting a big number tomorrow, ES will...

Satchel, We had 3 attempts at 62 (as you said), and 11am bottom was higher than 10am bottom. We broke the morning high and have created fresh highs. It is not exactly V shaped, but somewhat similar (you were talking about it yesterday). So, in light of above evidence, why still short ? Are...

    ES Trend Following

Let me repeat: you should read "Way of the Turtles" by Curtis Faith, at the earliest. If you haven't read that already. You may find answers to a lot of questions there and definitely interesting approaches.

How did you do for 2011?

    -21% in 5 months. Was in a 82% drawdown after 1st month.

How much money is enough for you ?

Yes, that was the information I was looking at. Let me make a simple assumption here - 10 contracts CL = 10 contracts 6E (which is close to 1 million Euro spot). You can trade 5 million Euro spot and many many times 10 million (100 contracts) Euro spot at 1 pip bid-ask, without slippage. But CL...

How much money is enough for you ?

For moving to swing trading, it will have considerably lesser # of trades compared to day trading. Maybe a good idea to develop practice by papertrading it for > 1 year. This will give you enough confidence and time/experience to adjust to a different kind of trading. My 2 cents.

How much money is enough for you ?

I am good at FX, and to make 100k pm trading FX, I need to score 100 pips net in a month, with a size of 10 million. Euro spot can easily take that size, even with close 20 pips stops - no issues. Averaging, it means just 5 pips per day with that size definitely possible w.o slippage. Not...

It didn't go down - so my fear that we might re-trace has been unfounded. There, I go long again @ 1271.5, target 1272.75. Will settle for a small target and then call off the day.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. I think I am going to add VIX to my toolset though - just for watching initially. PCRatio - It seems works much better to catch swing turns - like extreme positioning leads to multiple days/weeks swing changes. Not sure, it will work intra-day. it might...

out 1272, it reached 1273.75, I had an offer at 1274.25, don't want to be in this long trade now - it hasn't displayed the kind of bullish tinge that I was expecting here. Well, -2 points for the day.

Thanks :) Why remove stuff when you are adding stuff to your strats ? I guess to avoid curve-fitting and to not increase degrees of freedom ?
