More people lost money waiting for correction

Buy and Hold: A long term trend following strategy with no risk control. I don't disagree if your time frame is long enough and you can stand the roller coaster ride. As a trader I believe there are more efficient way of taking advantage of the opportunities the market presents us.

More people lost money waiting for correction

I'd rather lose opportunity than lose money. You can't spend woulda coulda shoulda.

Should I sell covered call or cut loss?

The point I was attempting to make is you should cut your losses quickly. I doesn't make any difference whether it's a intra day trade or a swing trade. It shouldn't depend on what you're holding & how deep in the red you are. If you are an investor basing your holdings on fundamentals you...

Should I sell covered call or cut loss?

Nope. I only have to look at a chart to see that there was some news that caused traders to sell off. I don't have to know why.

Should I sell covered call or cut loss?

Why wouldn't he worry about VRTX. If an announcement like the one in Oct can tank the stock why couldn't that happen again? What is it they say: "There is never just one cockroach" Why take the risk?

Should I sell covered call or cut loss?

The trade went against him. Doesn't want to take a loss. Now he is confused. I'm guessing he didn't have an exit plan.

Should I sell covered call or cut loss?

If the trade goes against you. If you sell the calls and the stocks drop. If you sell the stock and it drops. I always ask myself how much can I lose on any trade. Limit your losses.

The myth of letting your winners run

The plan is to take the trade with the proper size and risk; to exit with a small loss or an undetermined profit. Letting winners run is the plan. Hope plays no part of it. I exit on a trend line break. If the trend continues I hold, when it breaks I exit. Of course I hope the trend...

can price action predict market moves

Now I want to look at a 20 year chart of your height/weight ratio to predict if you'll make it 20 years. :) If you do I'll react if I'm still here. Hope you traded well and retired comfortably.

can price action predict market moves

It goes back to I think it was Mark Douglas who said you don't have to know what's going to happen next to make money. And that's why we are trading, to make money. Every one of my systems has a probability that I'll make money if I take enough trades. I have no idea what the next trade...

can price action predict market moves

A prediction makes you right or wrong. An edge means you can be wrong more often than you're right and still make money. A set-up with an edge means that you make more when you're right than you lose when you're wrong. When I see a set-up, I can't with any accuracy predict which way the...

The myth of letting your winners run

That explains what you did but the question was why? When you get an exit signal why scale out rather than a full exit. What is the downside if you take a full exit. Why keep part of a position? FOMO? You are a trader you can always get back in.

The myth of letting your winners run

Why? I can see having a stop hit and re-entering. How do you decide whether to scale in or scale out if the price is trending in your direction?
